I had no idea which section to post this in, I tried GFN's forum but got no replies, so I'll try here instead. Does any one here who plays DCS on Geforce Now know a way to save/restore control bindings between sessions? I don't think there is a way tbh, so I won't likely be wasting much time with Geforce Now. Its garbage imo.

hello. odd problem. keybinds are by default, in DCS case, in Saved Games.

reading a bit on GFN i found this article.

Hello, it is actually a common problem as this issue has been mentioned a lot online.

I'm looking for eplies from people who actually have a solution having implemented it themselves, assuming there is one. I should have stated this in my OP.

Use the Nvidia App instead. It's the successor to Geforce Now.

Do you play DCS yourself remotely?  I have the Nvidia app already and it is a graphics config app, nothing to do with cloud gaming/streaming whatsoever. It even has a link to download GEForce Now as a separate application.

Ah, I see. No, I use HP RGS for that, or Steam.

I'm referring to dcs control bindings with Geforce Now as  I mentioned in my OP.  The Nvidia app is entirely separate for graphics config.

sorry. i really have no idea what you mean. in my case, nvidia does nothing to save control bindings. all i can say is by default DCS keeps its own bindings in Saved Games folder in a subfolder called DCS or DCS.openbeta et al.

\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\config\Input

I didnt see your last reply. That aside, if you have no idea what I'm talking about, what is the point in replying? You are wasting your time and mine no disrespect meant.

Yes I am but it's self-evident I'm wasting my time with it. I will just have to upgrade my PC and be done with it.

#1, I am VERY familiar with the issue.  GFN is not saving any changes to the directory on their server side that DCS uses for saved .lua files.  The location of the directory is where the .lua config files are saved.  All keymappings, graphics settings, log in details, EVERYTHING.  Every time you play, you have to reset it ALL.  It's like youre very first time setting up your keymappings each and every time.  ED and GFN both know this is unacceptable, but neither cares a flip.

#2, ED does not care about this issue.  I sent a ticket to support and they replied, sorry DCS is not meant to be on GFN, and the settings will not save to the GFN game platform.  This, despite the fact that ED has authorized their game to be on Steam (yes I know that not the same as GFN), but if they didn't allow DCS to be on GFN, then why aren't they sending a demand to be removed from GFN?  Because $$$$$$$$.  More sales, and they don't care a flip their keymappings aren't being saved correctly.

#3, when a new user sees DCS on GFN, they of course will subscribe to Ultimate and pay extra for "persistent storage" of which they will need at least 500 GB because DCS needs well over 200 GB to install.  This is the "Install to Play" feature on GFN where you can play games that do not have a Steam Cloud save system, which of course is DCS.  So you pay more but yet it DOES NOT SAVE like its supposed to.

#4, Pay $$$ for modules on Steam.  Buy the A10 II, go into game, spend 15 minutes setting up your keymappings, play, exit, and then go back to play only to find out you have to reset it all again.  But its wonderful that ED, Steam, and GFN get your money for the module, that you will likely never play again because of the hassle of resetting EVERY THING each and every time.

#5, there is currently no fix, until either ED or GFN allows a fix.  Don't waste your time or money any further with GFN.

the fix is do not use GFN if it is causing you issues. why keep using when you know it is causing you troubles? just run DCS from the normal shortcut. literally thousands of players are doing this without everything being reset.
