Sezai Posted yesterday at 11:59 AM Posted yesterday at 11:59 AM Dear ED Team, As you know there are default missions for almost all planes. Some of them are free flights and the one with the SU27 is pretty cool where you fly over Tblisi and fly through the gates over the city. This mission has given me an idea for ED to generate additional cash. Imagine these sort of mission avaiable for more planes and when you fly over the cities (Germany. Georgia or Dubai etc..) you see Bilboards on top of the building where related items are advertised. These ads could be about Graphic Cards, Hotas, gaming seats products which are very relevant to DCS but also other merchandises like shoes, FMCG items. I am not sure how many times these missions are visited daily, but from my perspective you have a customer database who are direct potential targets for those companies. This could bring in additional cash flow for new modules, and for more content Just an idea. Sezai Posted 23 hours ago Author Posted 23 hours ago (edited) Exactly. it is not new and a proven marketing tool. I used to work for one the of well known motorcycle - automotive lubricant brands which heavily invested in sims and as far as I recall it was a successful campaign. I do not remeber what was the budget allocated for that though. Nevertheless, I am sure some companies like Thrustmaster, Logitech, Pimax or Meta could find it attractive. Kang Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago I doubt there is a lot of money to made in this. Contrary to a racetrack, there is not much of a way to force people to pass by these billboards much. Be that as it may, I would the M230 punches properly positioned holes through the Meta billboard... 1
Czar Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Modern HOTAS ads on a carefully crafted 1980s map intended for immersion... or a WWII one. ....or in a serious campaign during reconstruction of real life events in a war which often are tragic. Tone cannot be further away than a racing sim, which is about a sport which is hand in hand with capitalist values, which is fine. I think it is in bad taste to put ads on DCS maps in quantity to generate resources. The current ads everywhere culture kind of sucks too. There are much more efficient ways to generate resources without kneeling to the advertising world: making a good job on a module, collaborations outside the sims with related brands (already being done), Content Creators (already being done). Sorry for being too negative. Fair skies and happy flying. 2
SharpeXB Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Yeah billboards are just more appropriate and even realistic to see at a Motorsport event. In a combat game? No. Especially one where the players are flying. i9-14900KS | ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO | 64GB DDR5 5600MHz | iCUE H150i Liquid CPU Cooler | ASUS TUF GeForce RTX 4090 OC | Windows 11 Home | 2TB Samsung 980 PRO NVMe | Corsair RM1000x | LG 48GQ900-B 4K OLED Monitor | CH Fighterstick | Ch Pro Throttle | T.Flight Rudder Pedals | TrackIR 5
