okopanja Posted Monday at 09:31 PM Posted Monday at 09:31 PM Description: SAMs launch missiles on their own without user input and then become unresponsive on user's attempt to control them. This bug is widely reproducible on online servers. Required setup: - dedicated server with no MODs installed (reproducible even with mods) Steps to reproduce: - Start a dedicated server (recommended public) - Load attached mission into the server via web interface - Join the server with a client Observed behavior: - SAM launches the missile on its own without any user input - User takes over control of the SAM after launch - Message "Tracking missile" is briefly displayed on the screen in lower right corner - Message "Reloading in 1s" is permanently displayed on the screen in lower right corner - User leaves the SAM control - SAM can not launch on it's own, although it continues tracking the targets - User takes over control of the SAM again, and can not lock or launch on the target Expected behavior: - SAM should launch on it's own as long as target is in range, lockable and there are missiles - User should be able to lock and launch on the target when taking over control of the SAM - User should be able to reload the SAM (in this case attempt to reload HQ-7 results in over 1M seconds reload time, likely related to the fact that this SAM was copied from naval SAM which tend to have high reload times of 1 million seconds) Tested SAMs: - HQ-7 - Tor - Tor-M2 - Pantsir-S1 Untested SAMs: - IRIS-T SLM -> I could not enable it for user control. Likely also affected once this is possible again. Provided files: - Mission file: HQ-7_bugged_test.miz - Server trk file: server-20251110-215542.trk - Client tracking file: HQ-7_bugged_test-20251110-220503.trk Video: server-20251110-215542.trk HQ-7_bugged_test-20251110-220503.trk HQ-7_bugged_test.miz 1 Condition: green
danr Posted Monday at 11:16 PM Posted Monday at 11:16 PM Commenting for traction, this is a very annoying bug and has been prevelent for a long time in multiplayer servers.
okopanja Posted Tuesday at 02:31 PM Posted Tuesday at 02:31 PM @BIGNEWY I did not realize that someone created a ticket before. My bug report contains the required files and likely the list of affected SAMs is not extensive. BTW: this is not just CH issue, this issue is valid even for original ED SAMs, like Tor. Existing ticket with not enough information is here: Condition: green
