Quite a few maps use these bushes to generate some ground clutter but they just don't work; they look awful. The Caucasus map doesn't use them and it's the better for it.

Maybe if we could extend the range at which they appear it would look better, but as they are now? Nah. Let us turn them off.

Yes, this is a long standing wish from many of us. I want them, but drawn at a longer distance.

Yes, I agree. This is really a bummer and it does look to be frank quite stupid. I'd rather have no such clutter (on some maps, even boats on the rivers pop in like this) then it magically appearing out of thin air 150m in front of me.

Now, if we could have that bubble to be ~1km in front of us, it might achieve the desired effect. Or have it variable via some sort of option. Anything but this 😅

Well said! They even pop through the snow on the Kola map! Hurts my Norwegian eyes! 😱

I beg for more vegetation impostors from ED into DCS. 2D sprites to be exact.
I think Cyberpunk 2077 have a just perfect solution to draw vehicles at distance. They are just impostors as in 2D sprites that has some snapshots at some angles. I saw in a random video.

Zoomed out, nobody notices they are just sprites.

This could be helpful to dramatically increase the low vegetation clutter draw distance.  It would mean the world for Heli flying.

PS: I know forests in DCS already has impostors implemented. Idk about the low vegetation (grass bushes etc).

Yeah this one boggles the mind. It's terrible for low level rotor flight and makes the experience feel cheap. How is there not a slider for this in the graphics options where we can set the draw distance out much further? I want them there, I want options for performance, but the default draw distance on them, and inability to change it, is preposterous.

I agree.
As it is currently implemented it would cost massively in performance as there is no grass and bushes impostors as I've seen on my DCS. They are always 3D. I have that setting cranked to maximum for years now. Still bothers me greatly.

The annoying thing is that with the high resolution, bump-mapping, and grass the ground textures look absolutely fine without the clutter (well-intentioned as it is).

Not sure if it is my imagination but the 'effect' seems to have gotten worse - as I haven't really paid any attention to it until now. Flying a lot Low Level in AH64 in the Germany map - and it is dire.
