169th_Maverick Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Hey I have a noob question for you all...Is there a button that will do the same thing as clicking the mouse in the cockpit? Its kinda hard to take my hand off my HOTAS and grab the mouse ya know? Any ideas? IDK if its possible to program something in, but I am using a CH products HOTAS... Thanks!
Eddie Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 Can you not just map the mouse axis to a hat switch and then left/right click to buttons on your HOTAS and do it that way?
169th_Maverick Posted September 2, 2009 Author Posted September 2, 2009 well I have all the button's on my stick mapped already, (only using 1 mode though, there are 3 total I could use, but thats alot of remember) so I can't assign a hat switch as a mouse. I was just going to look around and leave the pointer centered instead of trying to move the pointer if that makes sense? So basically I have to figure out how to made one of my buttons do a mouse click, but I can't figure it out.

I've used a different aproach to this problem. - When I *must* keep my hands on the stick - in combat (ground or air) - I've ensured to have all lifesaving and combat oriented functions assigned to the HOTAS. So anything that is required to either kill, egress, evade and staying airborne while doing so should have be assigned to the sticks. - When not in combat - and can fly using dampers / AP - I'll allow myself to click about in the cockpit, switch radio com, modifying navigation, weapon loadout configuration (rear panel). All of this belongs to "enroute" or pre-IP tasks. There's very rarely a need to go clicking for me under a "high workload" situation anymore. :) The mind is like a parachute. leafer Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 TouchBuddy? ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
joey45 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 If you has a x52 you have a thumb stick [mouse thingy] and two mouse buttons.. Left and right clicks plus the mouse wheel.... not sure about other sticks. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Chizzy101 Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 You might also consider using a voice command program like Shoot! or VAC. Personally I only use them for radio commands, as using it for switches ruins the immersion for me. There is an example of using it for various cockpit functions here [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] "Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever" - Napoleon Bonaparte
104th_Crunch Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 You can program any CH button to send a mouse click. See attached Really, as said above, if you have all essential things mapped to the HOTAS, then anything you need to click on with the mouse can be done when you have the proper time to let go of the HOTAS. For a list of essential functions see the pdf manual for the actual HOTAS layout of the K-50. I have copied all of them exactly and added some additional controls like weapon selection, Laser on/off, Shkval on/off etc. I attached my profile as well. Another idea I use is I setup a cheap second mouse close to my left hand in addition to the mouse near my right hand. In RL you can use either hand so I figure it was a good idea. It can be easier to let go of the collective rather than the cyclic.Black Shark CH.rarBlack Shark CH.pdf
