shkval off?????

Hi

I have the what shkval on but suddenly was the display black (off),what can do that???

Do you have the throttle levers in AUTO (Page Down twice) and the L, R engine generators ON? That would cause it (ask me how I know).

Usually Indicative of Battle-Damage. Were you engaged by Enemy Fire at the time you lost the Shkval?

Ethreal is dead on, ...

But a wild guess would be that you have assigned "Throttle" to your Hotas - while you should have assigned the "Collective" to your Hotas.

Hence you get low power now & then - and most electrical systems shuts down.

no Enemy Fire as possible cause (it was a training mission without Enemy Fire back)but why I dont have any ekran message about it???if Enemy Fire was,can a machine gun fire take ut the shkval???????and do I have any message about it in ekran????

Pulling hard on the collective can cause a sigificant drop in RPM this is enough to disable the shkval.

 

Remember the KA-50 was experemental at best - the generators where built for other aircraft and only produce enough power for the electronics at almost full RPM.

 

There is a beeper - when you hear the beeper at startup and change pitch thats the indicator for the amount of power being produced.

 

Also when the above happens you will loose your damper setting as well and will see three green flashing lights where your solid Autopilot lights where.

I would belive that they are taken offline due to the AC frequency being too low or to ease engine spoolup, not because they do not yield sufficient power.

Maybe you just zoomed out while your mouse was on the shkval brightness knob. Happened to me several times :)

This is indeed true - i was just simplifying - it is automatic, but the result is the same - no shkval.

Exactly. Also it happens when missile hits close to you. When you drop power it happens too.
