wolf_288 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Hi can a Flyable awacs be the next project for ED the Ka-50 need this help in online mission???
Feuerfalke Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 There is already an ATC-Mod (at least for LockOn) - maybe it is what you are looking for? MSI X670E Gaming Plus | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 64 GB DDR4 | AMD RX 6900 XT | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | CreativeX G6 | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win11 64 HP | StreamDeck XL | 3x TM MFD
EtherealN Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 (edited) Most likely, no. Even if they get a military AWACS contract I find it difficult to see how it could be converted into a civilian product without doing very bad things to the realism of the simulated systems. Do you really think some 10-12 people want to sit in the same aircraft online? ;) Besides, the Ka-50 does NOT need AWACS help, not online nor offline. What it needs is good situational awareness (read the briefing and study the map carefully) and good communication with other Ka-50's. Attack helicopters are usually controlled by a FAC or similar personnel, not AWACS. AWACS might chime in about air threats, but your job in the Ka-50 is to attack ground forces, not tango with aircraft, so most likely the AWACS wouldn't be talking to you anyway - it would be talking to your top-cover Mig-29's and Su-27's. ;) Edited January 7, 2010 by EtherealN 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Boberro Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Get in to A-50 or American counterpart and you have live wax. Tested in LO so far. :D Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Bucic Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 (edited) Is it only me who thinks that starting a new thread regarding A-10 with any single question, even from one's wildest fantasies (the answer to which will always be - NO) causes only unnecessary clutter? By the time there will be place for some constructive questions or by the release of DCS: A-10 the DCS forums will be a mess for those who would like to read something constructive regarding DCS module already released. There is a DCS: A-10C Warthog thread already (a big one) http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=38201&page=38 Edited January 7, 2010 by Bucic F-5E simpit cockpit dimensions and flight controls Kill the Bloom - shader glow mod Poor audio Doppler effect in DCS [bug] Trees - huge performance hit especially up close
104th_Crunch Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Bucic, it is just you :) This thread is about an idea for DCS:A50 for example. Has nothing to do with the A10.
Total Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I can't see a flyable AWACS. Might as well just fly a 737. The pilot of an AWACS just flies it. The crew in the back does all the work and, as of yet, same aircraft coop hasn't been modeled in. And, as a person who operated both ECM and SS/AS radars, it would difficult to find the right people who wanted to stare at a radar scope or ESM screen (it has no sweep - far less entertaining) for an hour or two without even having a window to look outside. It would really up the realism, but there has to be a balance called at some point :D Personally, I would love to see more functionallity in the interfacing with AWACS in both MP and SP. Since there's F/A-18's and S-3 Vikings modeled into the engine, it would stand to reason to have a US carrier out there somewhere. In that case, also have the E-2C Hawkeye....or the min-WACS as we called it when I was stationed aboard the USS G. Washington CVN-73. Of course, this would require datalinking between the fighter aircraft and the AWACS platforms visibile and functional in the MFD's as well.
EtherealN Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Note that there are LO mods that make an analog of the AWACS role possible in multiplayer. wickedpenguin Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 As a real world air traffic controller, I really don't see how having a flyable AWACS would be truly workable. You'd have to have a heck of a group of pilots on that server with top notch phraseology. I'm not saying that's impossible - there's some really professional squadrons out there - but it would be rather complicated. Also, on a radar tech side, you'd have to simulate terrain masking, attenuation, primary vs. secondary radar, and other aspects. If you want to do online ATC, get yourself a copy of Microsoft Flight Sim X, a headset, and play online. You can setup a server where you can act as tower or approach controller. It's a lot of fun if you get the right group of pilots on your server. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Panzertard Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Yoda - here's an addon for your LEAVU project, bud! :D The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning

Not really, just call it a NATO AWACS :D If you want to do online ATC, get yourself a copy of Microsoft Flight Sim X, a headset, and play online. Frederf Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 A more practical AI module might be workable similar to the Falcon 4.0 AWACS interface. It would definitely be fun to interact with the exotic Mainstay aircraft instead of the tired old E-3.
wolf_288 Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 Hi Feuerfalke where can I find this ATC-mod ?????
