Heya all, after more than a year DCS Black Shark there are still very few pilots taking a look in to helicopter aerobatics and team aerobatics.

Here is a collection of helicopter vids (mainly aerobatics), might give some motivation!? :D

Some impressive flying, though i challenge everyone to recreate the following moves in the KA-50.

Wish the KA-50 could match that nifty lil machine its performance.

NOE flying is for wimps btw, Try some NOE aerobatics as per vid above:D:D:D

Did you see how the footage is sped up at about 36 seconds into the vid to make the 3D maneuvers look more extreme? Don't know why! 3D R/C Heli's are impressive regardless...! :)

It would be very interesting if there was a mod to invert the collective in DCS! :D

Unlimited moves! :joystick:

What do u mean by inverting collective (if it's not invert axis in options) ?

I think he means a mod to allow negative pitch in the main rotor, allowing aerobatic maneuvers in the game similar to those performed by RC helicopters.

I see. It probably would be possible to model it in game, right? But as the Ka-50 is fighter helicopter, would allowing unrealistic behavior to it make sense? Frazer, keep showing us amazing maneuvers with what you got ;)

Great vids, Frazer!

The reason I don't do aerobatics in the Ka50 is that normal flight is hard enough of a challenge right now! Once I can manage hovering, I'll start working on my dive-hammerhead-dive-immelman-S turn-funnel maneuver. :music_whistling:

I noticed the boresight indicator in the HUD from the 1st Ka-50 video ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iG1E1lgTsLw ) is inverted compared to what we have in game. Interesting!

This may play a big role in the very limited amount of pilots flying aerobatics. The question may be, what should be mastered first? Flying/aerobatics skills or combat skills?

I also noticed that, and I have no clue why this is. Anyone?

IMHO, flying skills, but that's because I enjoy the challenge of flying "normal". Other folks may enjoy performing wild aerobatics more than executing a regulation traffic pattern - I'm the opposite!

I would also think that having a mastery of general flying skills can lead to better aerobatics and combat.

If you look at the second part to the clip : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0kOfRaTsYs&feature=related you will see some minor differences in cockpit, this is obviously a slightly different KA-50 (minor mods, not sure). I assume this is why the HUD symbology is different.

This clip shows the HUD of the production KA-50 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEHJc1pTkHc&feature=related
