Incidentally, I prefer a view from this pit:

Fff, frontseater gets a nice view, but backseaters get more screens. :D

Do you lay back real far in an F16 sort of like an F1 driver? Seems like the pilot in that photo has his knees up pretty high.

Yes, the seat is angled back by 30 degrees.

I do confess the mud hen has a nice office. Just a pity about the back seat driver.

Fff, here's a question: in a limo, who's the guy everyone wants to be? The chauffeur? No way, the guy in the back is the one having the party! :D

It doesn't carry 6 mavs. It -could-, but it's a waste of time and fuel in most cases.

The F-15E will bring you 4AAMs, 2 tanks, and up to 12 or in some cases even more weapons.

4 bombs and 4 AAMs with two droptanks. Fairly nice. But...

f15e-7.jpg

No need for droptanks when you have conformals. And 4 AAMs, 14 bombs. And a pod.

:D

You want realistic simulation but then you put all those weapons on a jet where never would go to a real mission with that hewvy load?

I just remember the report of an A-10 pilot in Desert Storm 1991.. he was happy to fire 3 Mavericks in one Mission to the Highway of death... 3 Mavs, the only time he could fire so much... and you think of 14 bombs without any capazity of manoevering or anything else... :helpsmilie:

Yeah, but you can't bolt HARMs onto it. And we all know that real men do SEAD.

Therefore the only conclusion we can come to is that mud hens are for girls.

That was Desert Storm. Operational combat load in Afghanistan alone for an F-15 is:

1x AIM-120, 1x AIM-9, 2x GBU-12, 3x GBU-38, 1x GBU-31, 450-some rounds of HEI, SniperXR, LANTIRN Nav, 2x Drop Tanks, and of course the CFTs.

Aircraft come back empty (except the missiles, obviously) all the time.

SEAD - you mean where you tease the SAM, throw a stick at it when it pays attention and then run off ... like a girl? ;)

WAAAAT

F-15Es do plenty of SEAD. They played a huge role in OOD, and plenty of videos can be found of F-15Es obliterating SAMs.

I think it's a lot more manly to manually guide 2,000 pounds of rocket-propelled love and watch the expression on the guy's face before you absolutely annihilate him than it is to push a button, wait for your missile to fire itself, and then run away :)

Yeah, but i guess the classification stuff might be a problem

As the guy who does all the classified work on the F-15E, honestly I don't think it's going to be that big an issue. The most heavily classified stuff is the TEWS system, but what's classified about it is mostly stuff that doesn't have much of an impact on a sim - threat tables, tolerances, agility, frequencies... basically, the exact same stuff is classified on the A-10, and ED didn't have an issue getting that modeled.

Well you said use HARMs, and HARMs are like, the single easiest piece of ordnance to use in the world, so...

Sounds good.

Anyway i would fly everything. F-15c/e, F-16, F-18c, Superbug, Tornado, Eurofighter, F-22, F-35, Spaceshuttle (RIP) but only with Space 2 Space / Space 2 Earth Weapons. :pilotfly:
