HiJack Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 This f* game dont work! Here are what I've done so far: 1. Removed creative soundcard 2. Changed Graphics card from nVidia GTX785 to a new ATI HD5870 3. Completed a new installation and made NO CHANGES what so ever to the game. Started the game and run default settings (only changed to full screen) and wendt straight in to quick mode with the A-10A and changed to Air to ground [7] and try to cycle weapons [D] and it crashes! F****** :furious:

PoleCat Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 (edited) Ok mate. For the vast majority of us FC2 works just fine. I suggest that you calm down and take a deep breath. There are a lot of very qualified people around that will help you if you are polite and patient. Do you have the latest chipset, video, sound card drivers for your devices? Disk maintenance performed? Defrag/chkdsk? Memory tested? Did you remove all folders etc after your uninstall? Before the re-install? Did you properly remove the Nvidia drivers before installing the new ATI drivers. Have you confirmed that you have a good download of the product, no corrupt or mis sized or mismatched files? Are you doing a default install or changing the path anywhere? Is UAC on or off? Are you running under an Admin account? Full system specs? AV/Security software running? Have you tried a clean boot to rule out any other software as conflicting? Sounds to me like you have a hosed install....Consider re-download of product? More info, less rage and we can try to help you work this out. Out Edited March 29, 2010 by PoleCat http://www.104thphoenix.com/
Panzertard Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Hi Rusty - I can understand your frustration, but let's take a step by step aproach and see what we can eliminate. - You uninstalled and installed again. Ensure that you are using no mods whatsoever. If you uninstalled - but didnt remove all traces of the old tweaks (modifications) you might experience the same problem again. System health is a major factor - it can cause such odd things like these, and not affect other products. So Polecats adive there are some good ones. Finally - if you can follow this guide (TROUBLESHOOTING - Help us helping you.) and post us a Dxdiag, that would be very helpful to try to understand your system. I'm interested to see what behind your sound system - it may be a factor. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
104th_Mac Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 (edited) FC2 crashing several times after several flights. Hi PoleCat. Good install of FC2. Flights are awesome. Graphics = unbelievable! I get shot down often but I shoot down more, too. Missiles are right. F-15 is POWERFUL now, in flight. Anyway, Crunch suggested (and I think you did too) a post here re: crashing of the game. One of the crashes started with a huge block (but not all) of terrain "whited out". (North of Sukhumi). Then, several seconds later, screen locked, and couldn't close the window. (Killed it with Task Manager.) Be advised that I had these crashes with two versions of nVidia's drivers. I forget the first one (but LO 1.12 crashed regularly after an hour's flight or so.) After playing several hours of FC2, I had two crashes and someone on TS suggested I change the gfx card's driver. I have now version 197.25. FC2 still crashed. Everything makes me think it's a driver/LockOn issue. I suspect it's a memory leak in the card memory? [just realized I could make attachments. Zip folder attached.] Lots of text here: Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 29-Mar-10 00:25:12 Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: HiJack Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 (edited) I'm sorry for the frustration m8's, I'ts just horrible right now, I was looking forward to some FC2 flying :D. I made a new download of install files (all 3). I also changed my installation path from "D:\LockOn_FC2" to "D:\LockOnFC2" to eliminate the possible unsupported "_" key in path. I also tried out the quick start in window mode and now it works great! I need to do some more testing in fullscreen but I suspect the game path that included the "_" to have been the problem. Can someone confirm that "_" is a No Go? All UAC is of cource off and installation is made by Administrator mode. Btw. I have the X-52 Pro, TrackIR5 with ProClip and is using VAC to do radio commands. I have tried the game with everything off and drivers unloaded. ® Edited March 29, 2010 by HiJack

unknown Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Installed the game at "D:\Eagle Dynamics\LockOn Flaming Cliffs 2" and UAC is off. Updated my sound driver because of the sound errors in the errors.txt. Checked the md5 checksum of my downloaded files and they are correct. But everytime i start in the A10 and cycle through the A-G weapons for some seconds the game crashes. The strange thing is that this worked after the installation for a couple of missions. HiJack Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 My error is back  I now suspect the X-52 Pro and Saitek software/driver :helpsmilie: . Hi "unknown", are you using Saitek X-52 Pro?
Panzertard Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Rusty - I use x52 Pro myself - however if you run the Clutchmode or something, I think I heard about people getting problems. I'm not sure about the full circumstance. Here a method in DCS (similar to FC2) to unassign conflicting assignments. I decided to test without using the profiler - instead I used this trick when I stared with DCS (which is the same engine as in FC2): Small tip for x52pro users This way I got rid of the conflicts created between Saitek and the Input mechanisms in with the game. Maybe you could try to avoid the Saitek profiler for a few days to see if that solves the problem. This way we can tell if it's a profiler vs input conflict. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
Lightning Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 May i propose to remap the Cyle Weapon Key in the A-10 Command Mapper to another one than "D" ? There might also be a hardware error in the keyboard or Joystick Profile, that can cause such a Windows error. Please try to remap it to , lets say X key and tell us if this helps. Its worth a try, right ? best regards, GSG_9_LIGHTNING [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
HiJack Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Thanks for great tips folks :D I don't know whats wrong but the game seams to operate OK when I run in "windowed mode" and selecting my screens native resolution (1920x1200). If I select "full screen" the error is there again. I will try to run i windowed mode for a day or so just to be sure. But thanks for all the tips! ®
unknown Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Hi Rusty, yes i use the X52 Pro but not the saitek profile editor. I assigned the functions in game and deleted joystick buttons wich where double assigned. Tried to cycle the weapons with the "D" Key on the Keyboard but there is the same behavior, game crashs. Remaped the funktion to "," but the game still crashs. Closing the saitek profiler running in the background, game crashes. This happens only in the A10. ZaltysZ Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 (edited) I don't fly A10 at all, but if I remember correctly, Maveric display switches on, when you choose Maveric. I suspect that you are getting crashes when you cycle to Maverics. Can you confirm this? You can create custom mission with custom loadout (only maverics) and see if it crashes at the moment you switch to ground mode. Edited March 30, 2010 by ZaltysZ Wir sehen uns in Walhalla.

You can create custom mission with custom loadout (only maverics) and see if it crashes at the moment you switch to ground mode. I had the same idea and checked several payload combinations. Switching from AGM 65 to another weapon causes the game to crash. The same by switching from the LAU61HE to another weapon. But just one weapon typ(all AGM or LAU) works fine, no crash. Switching from full screen to windowed mode works for me too, no crash with different weapon payloads. The graphics is set to High Preset. I will play a little with the graphic options maybe i find something. Thx all for your help. HiJack Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 I don't fly A10 at all, but if I remember correctly, Maveric display switches on, when you choose Maveric. I suspect that you are getting crashes when you cycle to Maverics. Can you confirm this? You can create custom mission with custom loadout (only maverics) and see if it crashes at the moment you switch to ground mode. Confirmed!
