I'm looking into a certain option to give the ability of different mission payloads. If it works out, I'll post it here. It will still not permit the player to make his own payload, but it may ease things for everyone.

One thing to think about regarding the Mission Designer "forcing" you to use particular payloads is that he is simulating supply problems. You might have to use certain bombs or rockets because your airbase has nothing else to give you......

Example Su-25T has only 10 payloads options. None of them is my favourite so I would like to get my favourite payload on server.

I agree. In most mission so far I was no table to find efficient payload. Under "efficient" I mean a simulated payload that is efficient in a simulated environment while flying a simulated airplane against simulated target.

 

Any talk about realistic payload combination in a simulation is unrealistic. In real action you would use whatever you have and whatever is best in reality.

In a simulation, you should be able to use anything the simulation offers without any restrictions, and choose among stuff that work best in simulated environment.

 

If you want to simulate "what is available on that particular airport", then you should go 100% with that - there are different amounts of each weapon on any given airport. ANY weapon will run out eventually, but each in its own time. Furthermore, a pilot may return form a mission with some weapons. None of that is simulated. So, "available on airport" does not hold water. Unless you can employ some sort of airport management that will count each weapon that goes out and comes in.

 

One of my fav things is to always have a Phantasmagoria, no matter if I have antiradar missiles or not. Cos it helps me pinpoint and classify SAM.

My fav payload in FC1 was 2*RBK-250, 2*RBK-500, 2*Vikhr, 2*KMGU or H-25T, Phantasmagoria and (maybe) jammers.

Now that is much harder to use Vikhrs, and that I have more buddies to fly and coordiante with, I would rather drop Vikhrs in favor of H-25L or FAB-500.

 

There are so many fine weapons for Su-25T and they all go to waste. And what is the worst part - those are all weapons for most accurately modeled airplane! And now, some are for another great model, Su-25.

 

There is no way that all mission designers and on all MP servers will have the proper knowledge AND EAR for best a2g payloads.

Also, most mission creators and server managers make fun out of a2g, calling it shooting a fish in a barrel, and throwing some tidbits around for us to play with. Does anyone really expect that those people, that play mostly a2a, are going to waste any time to create payloads "per request" or even bother to support official patch for this fix?

 

Why not enforce weapon per pylon instead of weapon combinations?

Look, the way it is right now is the way it is.

This isn't going to change... and BTW consider adapting to the payloads available to you for a given mission. I am not implying though that you should adapt to what is available by default in the rearm menu.

So there is no ANY possibility to have my own payload?!

 

 

Sorry but from good Lo 2 this is for me as ground punder THE MOST STUPID THING WHICH HAS BEEN DONE in this game.

 

In this matter we have just came back to Flanker 2.0 era.

 

I can see an easy option that would have servers only integrity check fighter payloads and allow the mud movers to select their own payloads, under the conditions that they do not use unrealistic ones. In essence this is what we relied on in FC1.12 prior to LRM.

 

If that solved own payload creation it would be fantastic Case!

I tend to only use six hardpoints. I've found it is generally more important to have good handling and that a lighter payload gets the job done equally well if you aim carefully enough.

 

In real life it is usually possible to talk the C/O into letting you fly with slightly reduced ordnance loads. It'll be a real pity if we can't do this in a convenient way. It really matters for the mud movers.

I do not know how to implement custom payloads, but what was the reasoning behind this that justified expense of effort to be created?

There is nothing but to agree with Bob, sad but true :(

 

I hope that this will be fixed in the future, along with bort numbers. Meanwhile, I hope that server hosts will be kind to implement some sort of voting of whatever, for custom payloads in missions.

I think it's fine as long as we are allowed to just edit rearm.lua and whatever we need to setup our own payloads to suit the mission.

 

So often I carry so many bombs I don't need, just because I want to use vikhrs and maybe a SEAD weapon.

 

If ED were to split rearm.lua into several different files one for each aircraft, in a future patch that would be possible.

 

Then the server integrity check could be against only the A2A lua files.

Great work, but that is server dependent, right? Can I as a client have my custom payloads when visiting other peoples MP servers?

Depending of the server integrity check defined by the server in his file Config/network.cfg

 

The original : integrity_check = {"Config/Weapons"} should pass, if not you need to change this line.

I created the Su-25T and partially A-10 payload for myself however I can share it to anyone when I finish another planes.

My new su-25t payloads - replacing the defaults.

 

Conforms to the requirement of only one weapon of each type for unguided.

 

I think the "AirbaseDestruction" one will teach a lesson to the enemy side that doesn't defend their airbase sufficiently to prevent 6 huge craters :P

i currently devellop a small tool to automaticaly generate ream.lua part and entire RC-rearming-*.res

check the following link

the tool is currently tested and will be available next month (lack of time), the licence will be GPL... and run on linux or windows (XP32)

i'll provide a link if you are interrested
