hi all

i was testing my new joystickprofile for FC2 yesterday and i wonder if there is a bug / missing feature, or if i'm just staring at the solution without seeing it...

in the documentation, they show you the rate of fire switch in the pit, but they don't give a hint which button on the keyboard should be used (like for the increase/decrease ripple interval etc.).

then, in the options menu, you can find the "toggle salvo" switch (or similar - i'm at work right now, so can't doublecheck, sorry. but it's in the weapons category, and there aren't many to sort trough hehe).

so i set a trigger on the joystick for said "salvo mode", but it seems it doesn't work - in the 3D pit, the switch does not move, but a rectangular... "thing" comes visible in the HUD, lower left part. IMHO, the gun is firing with the same speed.

is the difference just not visible/audible? is it not working at all?

(and heck - if that command is not for changing the rate of fire of the gun, what is it then for?)

any toughts / inputs appreciated

(and no, english no native, so errors for you to collect and save missa, but me big sorry, yesyess...)

I believe it was posted somewhere that the rate of fire toggle has been removed from the real thing and hence not in the sim. Let me see if I can find it.

Here is the one I was thinking of over in the FC2 Bug Thread over in the Help Desk forum:

Disabled in the real aircraft, too. There's no such thing as 'slow rate of fire' or 'wasting canon rounds' for the GAU-8 ;)

i used the (s)low rate of fire in FC 1.12 for destroying single weak targets with a single short burst. it fired less bullets in the shortest possible salvo, so i used less bullets per target. means, more targets per sortie :)

but it's ok they took it out when the RL counterpart did the same. it would just be nice to see that info in the manual for less confusion...

(i don't fly the A-10 right now anyways, as the gun feels, sounds and looks just silly)

I make this also in Black Shark. slow rate of fire with 1 or 2 Shots per truck or light amored vehicles. Maximum yield by belt :). I hope, in DCS:A-10C I can select the fire rate again.

If there is a switch for it in the cockpit, and the cockpit model is accurate why remove it? I used this function all the time in FC1.x and hope to see it's return in FC2.x.

I would bet my biscuits that the A-10C in DCS will have just as much AC detail as BS. ED seems to be a stand-up dev.
