EvilBivol-1 Posted April 10, 2010 Posted April 10, 2010 There are a number of Russian combat helicopter pilots on the forum. Among them is at least one whose father was a Ka-50 test pilot. - EB [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Nothing is easy. Everything takes much longer. The Parable of Jane's A-10 Forum Rules
Waldo_II Posted April 11, 2010 Posted April 11, 2010 Real pilots did help in making the sim. Look in the credits at the bottom of the manual. Most have the title of "Sniper Pilot," which I hear is a very high rank in the Russian military. I don't know about on the forums.

wolf_288 Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 it could be interesting to know what a real pilot(ka-50 pro pilot) think about the sim ka-50.
EtherealN Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 They think it's more fun to fly the real one, I suspect. :P [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Daniel "EtherealN" Agorander | Даниэль "эфирныйн" Агорандер Intel i7 2600K @ 4.4GHz, ASUS Sabertooth P67, 8GB Corsair Vengeance @ 1600MHz, ASUS GTX 560Ti DirectCU II 1GB, Samsung 830series 512GB SSD, Corsair AX850w, two BENQ screens and TM HOTAS Warthog DCS: A-10C Warthog FAQ | DCS: P-51D FAQ | Remember to read the Forum Rules | | | Life of a Game Tester
Vecko Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 They think it's more fun to fly the real one, I suspect. :P Yes, and i think that they think it is much easyer in real Kamov. You know they have everything, best forcefedback joystick, perfect FPS,trackir, ruder pedals... I don't have nothing of that...:smilewink: ...and i'm still flying. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Virtual Aerial Operations
wolf_288 Posted April 15, 2010 Author Posted April 15, 2010 and that pilot for sure know what he talking about 1
Sulman Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 Real pilots have one huge advantage - their asses. You get a serious amount of sensory feedback through your backside in an aircraft. Of course, you have to learn to ignore it when learning instruments, but still, feel is an important thing. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
polomeister Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 don't think the ka-50 ever went into mass production & i'm sure i've read somewhere that there are only about 20 left in service for special ops - so pretty unlikely they'll be a pilot around. btw, i hope people don't take this the wrong way but anytime i've seen them in videos on youtube, they all seem much older than i would expect - like 45+. also that guy from chernaya akula is getting on a bit. is this usual for helicopter pilots? what's their average age? not that i'm saying that middle aged men can't enjoy computer games! just that the pool of oldish, ex-soviet, highly specialised pilots that want to play combat sims is probably fairly small
Booger Posted April 15, 2010 Posted April 15, 2010 don't think the ka-50 ever went into mass production & i'm sure i've read somewhere that there are only about 20 left in service for special ops - so pretty unlikely they'll be a pilot around. Not so, I (and a handful of others here) know of at least one. I won't state who he is since it's not my place (his call, not mine) and since he still plays the sim, I would assume he more than likes it.
Trident06 Posted April 28, 2010 Posted April 28, 2010 Polomeister There's a saying in the helicopter industry that there are 'old pilots', and 'bold pilots', but very few 'old AND bold' pilots!
