Does the BCS version you buy here come with Starforce like DirectDrive does?

I kind of would like to stay away from Starforce if at all possible. Torching one of my DVD drives from yester-year still makes me unhappy when I see the name.

Thanks.

Despite I don't believe StarForce smoked your 100% healthy disc-drive, the modern SF has nothing to do with checking CDs on startup or similar issues.

All Versions of DCS (and FC2 AFAIK) have StarForce implemented.

MSI X670E Gaming Plus | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 64 GB DDR4 | AMD RX 6900 XT | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | CreativeX G6 | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win11 64 HP | StreamDeck XL | 3x TM MFD

It's Starforce Proactive. Doesen't check dvd reader, doesen't install any driver, etc like the older Starforce you talk about. It's just activates the game content, it doesen't even protect the dvd (of teh dvd version that is) so you can backup without any hassle.

AMD Ryzen 1400 // 16 GB DDR4 2933Mhz // Nvidia 1060 6GB // W10 64bit // Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2

The answer to your question is very simple. Both Black Shark and Flaming Cliffs 2 are protected by Starforce proactive. The version of SF on these products will NOT harm your optical drives. I have not seen one single report of messed up hardware due to the versions of Starforce protecting Black Shark or Flaming Cliffs 2. Buy with confidence. Great products.

After the big backlash against the original Starforce debacle, SF changed their product around quite a bit so it's only the same in name. They really should have changed names because most people aren't aware of the major change in code.
