Why can't the SU-25T Lock onto ZSU-23-4 Shilka's with Kh-25MPU anti-radiation missile

Is there a reason we can't use the SU-25T to Lock onto ZSU-23-4 Shilka's with Kh-25MPU anti-radiation missile anymore?

 

I have had a look around the forum but can't find the answer.

 

The Phantasmagoria pod picks up the target but I can't lock on properly and never get launch authorization for the missile.

 

Screenshot, Target is detected but not Categorized(Identified):

 

 

 

But when I try to lock on the reticle locks over the target but changes back the the Slue designator

 

I think I remember in lockon 1.12 being able to launch anti radiation and Shilka's

Anyone know anything about this? Thanks. Jib.

Probably Shilka's radar wavelenght do not match Phantasmagoria's ones. IIRC Phantasmagoria has pre-programmed data of radars frequencies ect and this lets it to "know" what is locking now.

I am sure in LO 1 you couldn't fire it to Shilka at all.

Also, cos Shilka's radar is a fake - real Shilka has no search radar. Only aiming radar of much shorter range.

Use a Vikhr instead. Plus, you can stand-off since the engagement range of the Vikhr is usually longer than the engagement range of the Shilka. Save your Anti-radiation missiles for nastier targets (SAMs) who can engage you outside the range of your Vikhrs.

To overcome jamming and/or anti-radiation missiles, the radar automatically shuts down when it senses a threat. Fire-control is then undertaken using a co-located optical sighting system

Also a nice feature, Automatic threat detection - radar should go to sleep. Using it's optics instead.

Ayeh, I've dropped out few words - real Shilka has no search radar as modeled in FC, which is closer to Gepard's area search radar.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that original RPK-2 was not supposed to be used for 360 area search, but rather for pinpointing in a given azimuth/elevation zone.

 

Also a nice feature, Automatic threat detection - radar should go to sleep. Using it's optics instead.

Dunno if it is truth but Polish Shilkas have Iglas on board and new "avionics", new displays ect. Maybe now it is fully mini radar.

Ok thanks for the info guys.

I don't like the sound of the ZSU-23-4M4 if that was in game, you could get a nasty surprise from a Strelets launch when your on a close guns only attack run!(not really advisable against normal Shilka's either, but I like to live close to the edge!)
