You are making the incorrect assumption that the V1.1 FC product was intended for the Western market. It was created as a product for the Russian/CIS market and published in that market by 1C.

 

Well, then they should close the English section of the site down and say they apologise for giving us the false impression that FC was ALSO being made for the west, because really they don't desire or need our business.

The sales of this product to the West has the potential to make profit, but it is not the primary market for this particular product.

 

I don't believe that things are very hectic at ED. They are most likely working on the next product.

 

ED has said that it wishes to be it's own publisher and fund its own projects. Perhaps they can do that from the $9 (or whatever the current exchange rate is) per unit they sold FC in the CIS. This is before 1C's cut, of course. The $35 per unit they are/were getting from the west, without 1C taking a cut, could just be gravy. Also, I'm not forgetting StarForce and PayPal with their fingers in the pie as well. Anyway you look at it, sales from the west are going to make a huge difference as far as working capital for future projects. If the rest of the world buys only 1/4 of the units sold in the CIS, it would roughly double the revenue to ED.

Woah there attitude boy. The poor guy is simply expressing his frustration at the complete lack of visibility on this site. No updates, very little comment from anyone in the know, the front page seemingly never changes, then when he and others ask a simple question like 'when might we buy this marvellous product' he gets helpfully told that the product was never intended for sale to him and his ilk.

 

Personally I'll be snapping it up at the earliest opportunity, but as I'm waiting for my Cougar upgrades (April NXT run - Woohoo!) and it's pretty hard work flying with the stock joystick, I can wait. (Just thought I'd share.)

 

PS: Stormin - Not having a go at you old chap, you're an important and vocal part of this community but on this occasion the 'whiners' (of which I am one) do have a point. Right, back to lurking. Cheerio!

I guess it is a little frustrating listening to all the whining given that those of us that went for the download the first day it was available were called fools for doing so, since the CD version would not have the activation issue.

 

Notice how all the ill feelings about SF have been transferred to ED now? Nobody even talks about SF anymore; folks just want the addon ANY way they can get it at this point. I can understand the frustration but any complete idiot can safely assume ED is not 'holding' this addon from Westerners as some kind of conspiracy. Then again, I've seen some strange behaviors in the past from some of our community, so who knows?

Well I missed the first day or so of the download being available, logged onto the site, saw it was available, went through the whole process only to get a Paypal error. Bit odd I thought, tried again. Eventually dropped into the forums to find the post from Wags (not a spokesman for ED remember) regarding paypal issues. So the criticism of the lack of updates on the website stands.

 

Let's be clear, anyone who's registered on these forums is a flight sim nut, a rare breed. And I'm sure that almost without exception we all appreciate what ED have accomplished so far and are eager for them to continue producing more and ever better products (after all, very few others are even trying). This means that any whining is being done by people who don't want to be whining, who HAVE got better things to do with their time and who just want to get this game installed and get flying (so we can start complaining about the modelling of missiles apparently *sigh* ;)).

 

If you're one of the few (?) who already have the game perhaps there's no need to slap down those who haven't and are getting impatient. Certainly calling us names and making us feel stupid for voicing our concerns helps noone. Just let the threads run their course. And if you're from ED and can do HTML (or whatever the website is done in) then perhaps the odd news update wouldn't go amiss.

I think we could all use more patiance here. We're all in the same boat here. Give ED a little time to sort things out. It's a big job you know. They provide us with hours, days, months and years for some of us, with a great past time.

 

Be patiant, give Ed some time and I'm sure we will all be happy in the end. Fly 1.02 while you're waiting. I still have fun with it.

Who was it above who posted how all the ill will switched from SF to ED? He was right.

 

Why should ED by sympathetic to peopel who aren't sympathetic to ED? They're having problems, not really due to their own fault, and they're working on it. They don't owe you updates, and frankly if I was them I wouldn't want to be talking to you bunch either.

 

Or maybe I could just use an AI scanner on the forum, detect when the whining level rises, autopose some sort of response, and watch the whining level decrease for a week, then come back up ... it would really make an interesting study! ;)

 

All that aside, give it a rest people. ED knows you're frustrated, but you apparently don't seem to know, think, or posisbly care that they are too. ED has -proven- that they listen to the community, this can't really be disputed. Just because they're being quiet now is no reason to flame them.

Just to air this, but im realy getting tired of your sarcastic answers, we're just discusing our conserns in a decent maner. "why dont you just leave! " ?? Whats that abouth man, seems like you get personaly insulted every time you hear something you dont want to hear about this product. I know who you are and respect your work. No attitdude here. Saying that the English forum should be shut down is a bit extreme, in my opinion.

 

I didn't say that it was never indended for sale, I said that the Western market was not the primary market.

 

I also pointed out that I to am frustrated at the lack of a designated spokesperson from ED.
