Is there no more zooming in on the 2 weapons systems like mavericks and also the Shkval when using Vikhr or whatever you used to be able to zoom in as well and i cant find any button in the controls list corresponding to this. I couldnt imagine such a vital tool being removed . If someone could point me in the right direction id appreciate it.

"Display Zoom In" and "Display Zoom Out", defaulting to = and - ... The keys are reused for radar displays etc thus the generic name.

Thanks i confused the display zoom in = - with the /* zoom on keypad thanks again

I wish like falcon you could edit your loadout for campaign would be more fun because i dont like using mavericks without zoom you gotta get so close that the AAA and SAM destroy you atlead with shkval you can zoom in. The other thing is i wish they would have done advanced model for the a10 instead of the least used aircraft the SU 25 i know there will be some disagreement im just going by what i constantly see on servers most people are using either F15 SU27 MIG 29 and A10 only like 1 or 2 people here and there use the 25 =\ but thats just my opinion dont get all a$$ hurt over it =)

Only heathens use the A-10. Real Men (and Women) use the Su-25 ;-)

:thumbup::megalol::smartass: +1

SU-25 is the best aircraft of the LO series. (ducking under the desk for the upcoming attack) :P:smartass:

You can change your load out. on the mission brief, look at the bottom center and got to mission planner. There you will be able to change any WP, load out, etc.

All joking aside, the SU-25 vanilla is far more interesting and fun that the A-10 in FC2 or FC1. :joystick:

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.

Whats wrong with SU-25? OK its not as modern as SU-25T, it doesn't have a TV display to search for targets but ... as a CAS of the 70s-80s its quite interesting.

Personally I would find a Mig-21 sim more interesting than a F-22 one, so my opinion may not count.

Vanilla Su-25 is IMHO very bad plane. Without any avionics in full state of this word, without better weapons, without TV...... Take out laser and engines and you will get Mustang or Messerschmit from II World War. No, thank you :P

The vanilla Su-25 is often underestimanted, undeserved in my opinion. Thanks to the laser it is a very good platform for unguided munitions. It can precisely engage targets in terrain that is not flat. Quite opposite to the A-10, which will display faulty CCIP data if the target has an other elevation than the ground below the aircraft (because it measures distance to target not by laser, but by extrapolation using attack angle and radar alt). The Su-25 lacks the anti-tank capability of the A-10A, but it is in many ways the superior attack aircraft.

Mbot, although those are logical ideas, I'm afraid even here reality is not quite on par. According to our resident Su-25 pilot, they did not use the laser when operating in the mountains. Weapons were employed in manual mode following stricts delivery parameters. In real life, target altitude is almost always known ahead of time and I'm waiting to get clarification on whether this is inputted manually into the WCS either on the ground or in the cockpit for targeting calculations. I'm not even sure the laser feeds any range data to the WCS. I believe the laser is generally used on the Su-25 only for actual delivery of LGMs, which does not happen very often in Russia.

That is quite fascinating. This would also imply that bombs are exclusevly delivered in dive attacks using the "CCIP" methode, since the "CCRP" mode requires laser support (at least in our sim).

My supposition about the laser was likely wrong and I think it does feed range data. Regarding "CCRP", it is a method described for the Su-25, but the same pilot has reported that neither he nor anyone else in his squadron has ever actually used it outside of planned training and even then, the results were very poor. However, another SME reported that a different Su-25 squadron was just recently employing this method in training. Given both accounts, it would seem like "CCRP" bombing in the Su-25 is possible, but not practical in combat and certainly not the kind of combat the Su-25 has actually been involved in (mountains).

In this section of the flight manual, the instruction for "CCRP" bombing include firing the laser at a range of 1-1.5 km from the target at an approach altitude of 300-400 meters and airspeed of 700 km/h. I think this highlights the main issue of this method - extreme proximity to the target. Even more strange, the target approach pattern begins by overflying the target!

As much as I love the A10, its ridiculously easy to fly compared to a fully loaded SU-25T :D the challenge involved in flying the russian brute is why I like it; having to run in so close while heavily loaded to deliver the laser guided munitions then fighting to manouvre what is essentially a flying brick away from incoming AAA and short range sams... no matter how many times I get shot out of the sky, it just makes me want to come back for more and do it right :joystick:

Yes this is why I rarely fly A-10A in LO - I am waiting for A-10C, where will be much more realistic FM (heh AFM) similar in details like AFM for 25T.

A-10A in Lo I don't "feel"... I even slowed down its axes to get IMHO (for me) better response of joystick moves, similar to frog.
