KeyCat Posted June 7, 2010 Author Posted June 7, 2010 (edited) No fiirewall, no anti virus, its a clean system....and my IP address is............ I can smell the irony (?) but if you read my post again the keyword is software, I am protected enough by the firewall in the router but YMMW. /KC Edited June 7, 2010 by KeyCat
KeyCat Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 (edited) I haven't been firing up BS (nor FC2) for long time due to this issue, any info/updates on this one? /KC Edited August 2, 2010 by KeyCat
Panzertard Posted August 2, 2010 Posted August 2, 2010 Hi Keycat. I was hoping the updates was coming from you - there's no new patches out if thats what you mean. Anyway, I and many other have been running stable all night long. I've had squad-members who had their share of straneg crashes, but reinstalling to get rid of all mods and such has always done the trick for them. There has been a few missions who have caused crashes here & there, but then it could be reproduced for almost everyone in that mission. And hence the mission could be rebuilt to get around that problem. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
KeyCat Posted August 2, 2010 Author Posted August 2, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the reply Panzertard! Unfortunately it's nothing I can do on my end to fix this (except upgrading to Windows 7 64-bit it seems and that is a no-go for me since I would loose my HOTAS). Back in May (IIRC) I was in contact with support-dcs@support.eagle.ru and I was informed that ED is aware of this issue (introduced in 1.0.2) and supposedly working on it. Since main interest is MP this bug/issue killed both DCS:BS and FC2 for me. Yea, I can fly the A-10 or Ka-50 for maybe ~30-60 mins (depending on how crowded the server is it seems) but sooner or later the CTD will come, no matter what, when RAM fills up and simulator.exe goes beyond that ~1.35 GB limit - it is 100% reproducable here in both FC2 1.2.1 and BS 1.0.2 (without using any mods) in both SP and MP. /KC Edited August 2, 2010 by KeyCat
Tez Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 As far as I know this issue is fixed in the upcoming Warthog. But there is one more very similar issue recorded as unresolved yet (everything the same but without CTD). We are still unable to reproduce it. If you have a track with it which leads to CTD while playback, we do need it. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] =653=Tez
BKLronin Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I had those CTDs quite often on Vista with 1.0 but it really seems gone now with WIndows 7 (Trackir4,X52pro,saitekpedals) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
71st_Mastiff Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 I have noticed when my Nvidia GTX 285 hits 100% in FC2, DCS BlackShark, it Minimizes and I have to end process to restart. 71st_Mastiff Posted August 31, 2010 Posted August 31, 2010 the possibilities are endless. and in my mind that's how it relates. KeyCat Posted September 1, 2010 Author Posted September 1, 2010 As far as I know this issue is fixed in the upcoming Warthog. Thanks for the update, appreciated! Really looking forward to the patches/fixes and to get back in the cockpit again! But there is one more very similar issue recorded as unresolved yet (everything the same but without CTD). We are still unable to reproduce it. If you have a track with it which leads to CTD while playback, we do need it. If it didn't CTD where there any other symptoms? Back in May while testing various stuff I noticed that if I started XP with the /3GB switch the bug/issue changed from CTD'ing to completely freeze the computer without any error messages at all (both DCS:BS and FC2) and a hard reset was nescessary. /KC
Tez Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 (edited) How is it related to the subject?the possibilities are endless. and in my mind that's how it relates. You have dodged my question. Please keep on topic. An important issue is being discussed here. Consider creating another thread instead. Thanks for the update, appreciated! Really looking forward to the patches/fixes and to get back in the cockpit again! If it didn't CTD where there any other symptoms?A significant performance drop. FPS halves in 30 minutes or so. In some cases memory used by simulator.exe gets to 1GB and higher. We will very appreciate a track where this FPS drop reproduces. Make sure you have played it back on your PC and the issue reproduces with the track. Edited September 1, 2010 by Tez [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] =653=Tez
topdog Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I don't mean to hijack this thread; I have created a quite extensive other one already so I'm just following this one with interest. In my experience simulator.exe was regularly if not always over 1GB, even just firing up the Quick Mission would do so (and consumed more than the crashing multiplayer mission did). I don't recall any significant FPS drops or slowdowns, so I could only try and provide myself a cobbled together track from the remains left behind in the \temp directory after a crash. I'm unsure how beneficial that would be though.
