Raydowe Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Hello guys. i have question wich version KA-50 is using in simulator? Black Shark is name for KA-50N... but it isn't our KA-50. Becouse this version has Samšit-50 instal in his nose. so we can fly standard KA-50 Werewolf. But this version dont have GPS wich we have in DCS. This system was use first in KA-50N. so... i asking.. Exist this version wich we are flying in DCS in real world?:pilotfly:
AlphaOneSix Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 When it originally came out, the Ka-50 had no name (well, other than Ka-50). In unofficial circles, it was called "Werewolf", but that was never an official name. The name "Black Shark" stuck after one of the prototype Ka-50's was in a movie of the same name. The "Black Shark" name is also unofficial, but seems to have stuck, so it might as well be the official name. Both of these names came out before there was ever any such thing as a Ka-50N or Ka-50Sh.
Luke.S Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 wasn't it the same with the huey. It was originally just the UH1 iroquois but then some pilot started calling it a huey and that stuck then even bell were branding it huey
AlphaOneSix Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Well the Huey started out as the HU-1, before the naming convetion was changed to UH-1. The name "Huey" came from the original HU-1 designation, and stuck even after it was changed to UH-1.
Raydowe Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 ok.. Black Shark or werewolf it is not imortant.. i want know which verzion of KA-50 is in game. Becouse standard ka-50 hasnt GPS.
Nate--IRL-- Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 It is a one off prototype IIRC. Which has since been upgraded slightly. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
GGTharos Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 THe version used for real by the military, which is as is represented in the game, including the ABRIS upgrade. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
slug88 Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Since we've got two different posters giving you two different answers, I thought I'd just chime in and say that everything I've read on these forums indicate that GGTharos is correct :). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Nate--IRL-- Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 I didn't know that, happy to be corrected. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
joey45 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 52 is the 2 seater which is based on the 50. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. EtherealN Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 I think he means #52, as in the airframe serial number. I don't recall what the serial number of the airframe used was myself though, so cannot confirm. EvilBivol-1 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 (edited) ED used Ka-50 #25 yellow as the prototype for the virtual reproduction. This machine has since the time of modeling been altered to undergo trials of new missile warning and jamming systems with additional sensors added to the fuselage (now removed again) and some cockpit alterations. The Ka-50 version modeled in Black Shark is the standard Ka-50, a number of which were upgraded with the ABRIS satellite nav. system during/as a result of combat trials in Chechnya. I don't know if all in-service machines have recieved the upgrade, but considering there are only a handful of machines in service and most of these differ from each other to a greater or lesser extent, this is effectively a rhetorical question. There is no Ka-50N or Ka-50Sh in military use. There were all essentially company-driven developments and were never finalized or accepted. Razorback Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Why not the next patch of BS with the KA-50Sh version upgrate ??? Advantage : finally a real night acquisition system (with the FLIR system) Please ED, think of it !!!!! THX
slug88 Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Why not the next patch of BS with the KA-50Sh version upgrate ??? Advantage : finally a real night acquisition system (with the FLIR system) Please ED, think of it !!!!! THX From the FAQ on the front page: Q: Do you plan on modeling more advanced versions of the Ka-50, such as the night-capable Ka-50Sh and the dual-seat Ka-52?? A: Currently, we have no plans to model either the Ka-50Sh or the Ka-52. If either of these aircraft is adopted into service in the future and we are given an opportunity to model them accurately, this might change. http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/index.php?end_pos=718&scr=default&lang=en [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GGTharos Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Because that is not an upgrade, it is a prototype. Why not the next patch of BS with the KA-50Sh version upgrate ??? Razorback Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Because that is not an upgrade, it is a prototype. Prototype or upgrade...don't matter. Thermal Imagery night (and day) that's the important thing !! The missions will be much more complete or interesting. Ka-50Ks or KA-52 ? Both have this capacity. Ka-50Ks represent, for sure, less work for a patch ! Hihihi
GGTharos Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Prototype or upgrade...don't matter. It doesn't matter if you're doing a lo-fi sim. It does matter when you are doing a hi-fi sim, which is what DCS aims to be ... period, end of story ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
