Italy-New Zealand 1-1. Have you ever seen such exciting ties like the ones we been seeing this WC?

But if the Italians cant win over such a team they are in big big trouble. Maybe next time heh? ;)

Disgraceful refereeing in the brazil game. KAKA sent off for nothing bah. Brazil is qualified :)

Now Portugal better beat DPRK or we are donne :D

Poor ref is going to cry at home when he see the replays.

Kaká didn't deserve that at all. If anyone should get a card, it is the Cd'I player, but he's not the only one...

They went kung-fu style, all-out, kill 'em all.

Tioté scored a very violent hit on Elano and didn't even get a f***ing yellow card. That foul would've bought him a red in a normal situation, but that wasn't the case. At least, at first sight, Elano seems to be OK.

A few minutes later and the same thing happens again, now with Michel Bastos. The ref' gives the guy just a yellow...

Then the ridiculous series of fouls and free violence evolves into that shameful incident with Kaká - not to mention his first card wasn't exactly a good call.

What a stupid decision...

I hope FIFA hasn't lost sanity and will remove this card.

As a note, Luis Fabiano's [classy] goal had two hand-balls as well, but our blind friend once again missed it.

It happens, of course, but it shouldn't, not with such rate. I hope it was just a [very, very] bad day for the referee and he'll go back to reason in the next games, but that probably won't be forgotten...

Well, we're through, Elano's condition isn't too bad, Kaká went off with his dignity untouched.

I hope against Portugal we'll start seeing some Fair Play again. Can't wait for that game :)

Good luck against NK

A bizarre World Cup so far. Many of the games that you would have thought an easy result to predict and bet your money - then you would have lost.

Many supposedly strong teams are struggling. England seem awful, but at least we are not the worst - what is happening in the French camp? Very sad. Anelka had a terrific season with Chelsea and they send him home for speaking his mind? Such things are supposed to stay in the locker room (not leaked to the media) and be dealt with between the people concerned.

Only the South American teams seem to be consistently playing well.

Not so much as a surprise if you think of it. For several reasons. Tired players who play chanpions league, national club league and the bowl. This is a back breaking rythm season. Sure they get plenty of practice but they are beaten up by the time of WC. Whats worse is that it seems the players are taylored torwards the chanpions league where they play with mostly foreigners. When they get back to the selection it is all too obvious to me few of them are on the same wave length. And it seems also the wordl cup is taken less and less seriously by european teams and federations.

If you remeber the last European and world cups the usual favourits with the exception of the Germans have been playing realy badly. In 2006 Both France and italy played awfull. A stagnated France elbowed out Portugal and brazil with faked penalties. Italy also elbowed out the Aussies with a fake penalty and the final was with 2 equaly medicore teams. And you also remenber what hapened in that game. England played awfully, and the spanish fell short as usual too.

Scolari left Portugal team and enter Carlos Queiroz who is more english than Portuguese. The man cant motivate the team and it showed clearly during the difficult qualification.

So, since nothing realy changed for the rest of the above mentioned teams from 2006 onwards, what kind of surprises do you really see in this WC? Me? Nothing. Perfectly predictable.

Thx!!! :)

But those werent the real players. :ufo: They were all abducted and replaced by genetic enhanced replicants... :robot:

In the mean time Chile might want to watch out as the insidius Swiss are at it again. :)

England wont make it through...

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Seems all the players are fed up with Domenech and after several attacks of the french journalists saying they weren"t doing their work they wanted to show were the problem was really . and seems the Anelka words even if they were insulting were much less serious than the ones originally reported . Domenech would have ask Anelka to do something , Anelka would have answered that with this system noboby manages to do it , that he was useless , Domenech would have insisted asking Anelka to do more efforts and Anelka would have answered go screw you with you sh#? system

Well, there is another side, however.

If (although I don't believe in it at all), and just if France makes it to the second stage (they need to beat South Africa and hope Mex. and Uruguay won't draw), they might actually get motivated by this sudden push, then it'll become a serious problem.

It happened in a smaller scale on the last World Cup and, well, we know the results.

Their mistake was not having Domench sacked right after that. That result wasn't obtained by the coach, but by the players. Even if I were the coach they would have got similar results.

I seriously hope France makes it to the second stage, it's always more interesting when teams with tradition play together.

Plus, we need some revenge after the 2006 :devil_2:

Allez, bleus, allez!

yes we do, take a bit of digging the history of the last worldcup. Domenech+Platini+referees=all the motivation they needed. ;) :D

To a point. They sucked so bad they could go so far. Not that the Italians were THAT much better... :)

The problem of this team though is much deeply rooted than it meets the eye. Its a reflection of how deeply devided the french society is. But thats a discussion dont want to take here.

All that does hurt image and perfomance of the team. Again I feel sorry for the fans. They should look into a new team, coach and better doctrines.

Ive watched all games till now, and sadly, the thing that cought my eye is that apparently most of them are downgrading to kung fu fights (as was already stated). Genrally this has been one hell of an ugly cup to watch, and fair play is nowere near to be seen (partially due to some referees out there...)

On the other hand, South Africa is beating France and that really makes me smile. Hope that they can keep this way for the second half.

The french are donne, and no glory at all to save. It remains to be seen if the bafana bafana can pull an epic comeback to the 8th's. If uruguay scores 1 more and SA another, then they achive something trully special.

GO SOUTH AFRICAAAAAAAA
