Prophet4no1 Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I've been away for a few months. Life has been, interesting. I came back to so some BS and noticed a new patch. I installed it and now have some issues. I no longer get the low speed velovity line on the hud. The one that shows drift so you can correct it. Speed read out comes and goes. And when I hit auto hover all the auto pilot functions shut off except ALT hold. That one goes from off to on and the chopper starts to buck around like a angy bull. Is ther an explanations some place for all of this? How can I go back to the old one? Just instlla the old patch over the current one? Thanks guys [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
GuntiNDDS Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 As far as i read, it is not adviced to install the 1.2 patch over the existing installation but rather to first uninstall (including moving away or deleting the bs-folder/file structure) and the reinstall the game and then install the 1.2 patch over the fresh install.
Zenra Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Did you perhaps install the 1.0.2 patch over 1.0.1? I have read of some having such problems after doing so, but I did install 1.0.2 over 1.0.1 on my computer and have experienced no such issues. That is, the velocity vector still displays on the HUD at low speed (note that the HUD must be in Nav mode, not a weapon mode), and auto hover works just fine, as long as you comand it when at a low speed and with the helicopter well trimmed. There are a lot of nice enhancements in 1.0.2 - hope you get it working. Frederf Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 Was your DCS rather modded before the patch was applied? What game mode (real/game) did you play with before? What mode is it in now? The 1.02 patch reset a lot of options. The velocity vector should come on at <50 km/h ground speed only. It's a doppler function so the doppler system has to be working. Also engaging auto-hover before the doppler warms up (no GS displayed) will auto-disengage the AP channels. These are all symptoms of a malfunctioning or not ready Doppler system.
EinsteinEP Posted June 17, 2010 Posted June 17, 2010 I no longer get the low speed velovity line on the hud.Still present in 1.0.2 for me. FYI - your doppler nav needs to be up and running (see third item in this post). Speed read out comes and goes. All the speed readouts work just fine for me in 1.0.2. FYI - the ground speed readout in the hud comes from the doppler nav system (see third item in this post). And when I hit auto hover all the auto pilot functions shut off except ALT hold.Sounds like the doppler system warmup issue. I don't think it's a bug, but you have to let the doppler nav initialize before entering auto hover. Here's just one thread - there are others. Just guessing (a track would help) but it sounds like you did a cold start then immediately took off and tried to enter auto-hover before the doppler nav was up and running. The doppler nav takes about 2.5 minutes to warm up, so it is possible to complete a startup sequence and be ready to fly with no doppler nav. I don't know of any positive indication that it's working other except for checking to see that there's a ground speed indication in the HUD. This won't show up until you're in the air, though, so I still don't know of a positive indication while sitting on the ground. Shoot to Kill. Play to Have Fun.
Prophet4no1 Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 Thanks guys. It was from a cold start and going off of memory. I must have forgot the switch on the back pannel. I've never had any issues in the past. If I forgot a switch it's my bad. Normally I hit that as teh APU fires up. Anywhere I can get a detailed change log for the patch? The only thing in the readme is multiplayer compatability with FC2. Thanks again. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Prophet4no1 Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 Also, before the patch, radio text was on the upper right, now it's upper left corner. My GPU info is in that corner, is there a way to move the radio messages back to the right side? Thanks. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frederf Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 There's no official "detailed" changelog. The position of the subtitles has got to be a LUA edit... somewhere like most everything else.
Prophet4no1 Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 There's no official "detailed" changelog. The position of the subtitles has got to be a LUA edit... somewhere like most everything else. Well, I've never messed with the LUA files. What do I need to do it? Just use notepad or a special reader? Any idea where the edit could be found so I can make the change? Thanks yet again. Prophet4no1 Posted June 18, 2010 Author Posted June 18, 2010 Ok, made sure I had the INS and INS heater on while the APU fired up. Works a lot better. lol I guess I just missed it the last time. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

My GPU info is in that corner, is there a way to move the radio messages back to the right side? Thanks. I agree this is a small step backwards, the radio messages can be very difficult to read on multiplay servers where there is alot of chat going on. If anyone finds the appropriate LUA file to modify please enlighten me. Woots Posted June 18, 2010 Posted June 18, 2010 I too noticed some strange flight behavior post patch. Turned out that my realism options had defaulted back to "arcade" mode. Once I fixed that, everything was as before (velocity line < 50 kph, auto hover, turn to target, etc). [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
