bigdog4215 Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Can I have the shkval lock on and follow a moving target.I tried it by hitting the ground moving target button on the bottom left panel but it wouldn't lock,is there something else I'm supposed to do.
Avilator Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 Yes, the shkval can lock a moving target. It isn't even necessary to use the "ground moving target" button. I think that has to do with programming the fuse of the missile, but I may be wrong on that. Can you post a track of the behavior? I only respond to that little mechanical voice that says "Terrain! Since you're only trying to lock, uncage shkval "O", zoom in by pressing "+" then zoom your view in by pressing "/", "*" to zoom out. Adjust target gate by pressing "[" "]" then hit Enter. Make sure of your keyboard key mapping in control options and that "Enter" is assigned to lock target, also double check that whatever you're trying to lock has not been already hit. Frederf Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 The optical track "TA" requires that he Shkval gates be equal or smaller than the target. If the gate is too big all you'll get is a ground stabilized "LL." Once you manage to get a track on a moving target you want to set "Ground Moving Target" mode on on the targeting control panel to make sure that your weapons lead the target to increase the chances of a hit.
wolfhnd Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 I find that quick moving ground targets are often missed. Is there a solution for this problem? I was trying to shoot some trucks moving at 70 kph which does not seem that fast. Locking was difficult but not at all impossible but even thought the laser was tracking fine the missiles tended to hit behind the trucks. My solution was to wait until the targets were headed more or less directly at me but I can see that would not always be possible.
159th_Viper Posted July 3, 2010 Posted July 3, 2010 I find that quick moving ground targets are often missed. Is there a solution for this problem?.... Lead your target with the tracking gate. Lock the target and then unlock and move the tracking gate about 1 or 2 vehicle lengths in front (depending on range to/speed of) target and prosecute. He'll drive right into the Vikhr. wolfhnd Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 You know that would work pretty well. Simple but effective. At 70 kph I think about one vehicle length would do. Thanks
