Jinro Posted July 8, 2010 Posted July 8, 2010 I figured that when you set "immortality" on and "use these settings for all missions" in options, that I would be immortal, but apparently not. In the general options, I set immortality on, and set "use these settings for all missions" on. Tried A10 mission "firing range" and got shot down. Then I tried opening the mission in the ME, set immortality to "enforce" and also selected "value". Tried it again. Still got shot down. What gives?
Exorcet Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I have no idea. I use it all the time to test missions I make, I've never had a problem. I also use the global options setting, and all I have to do to be invincible is go to options and click the box. rattler Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Is anything about FC2 bug free. Gees, this is frustrating. I can hardly get anything to do what it is supposed to. I don't think it's just me. Been flying this series since Flanker2.5. About ready to put on self. Amazing graphics or not, my blood pressure can't take it.:D I can't help you unfortunately as I have not tried that yet, but I sure will now.

nomdeplume Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I have no idea. I use it all the time to test missions I make, I've never had a problem. I also use the global options setting, and all I have to do to be invincible is go to options and click the box. Did you actually test the Firing Range mission, though? I'm able to replicate this with that mission, too. I also tried making a copy of it and deleting the entire "difficulty" dictionary from the options file and that made no difference. However, if you make a copy, open it in the editor, save it (no need to change anything), then fly it - immortality works fine. Don't know what the difference is. This mission does start with the player not being in control of the aircraft, so maybe something special was done to the mission that prevents the 'immortal' thing from applying the immortality to the player aircraft? No idea really, but at least there's a workaround.
asparagin Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Immortality won't work Sad but true :D Spoiler AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, MSI MEG X570 UNIFY (AM4, AMD X570, ATX), Noctua NH-DH14, EVGA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti XC3 ULTRA, Seasonic Focus PX (850W), Kingston HyperX 240GB, Samsung 970 EVO Plus (1000GB, M.2 2280), 32GB G.Skill Trident Z Neo DDR4-3600 DIMM CL16, Cooler Master 932 HAF, Samsung Odyssey G5; 34", Win 10 X64 Pro, Track IR, TM Warthog, TM MFDs, Saitek Pro Flight Rudders
rattler Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Don't mean to hijack the thread but it was mentioned about making a copy of the mission and either make a change to it or not. i tried the F-15 ramp start, saved it as f-15 Test and made some changes and saved it. Ran it and it makes no difference it does its original thing. I changed the route to bring the F-15 back to the departure airport but when you fly the route you end up where it was originally designed. I tried to change it again and this time i just flew it and some changes were done but then I had no contact with tower. Talked his ear off but no reply.:D. Maybe for good reason, hee hee. Anyway lots of strange stuff with FC2.:joystick:
Nate--IRL-- Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 Don't forget that MIZ files can contain their own option files that remain unaffected by what you set in the options menu. You can open the MIZ (With Winzip or similar) file and delete these options/LUA files if you wish. Back up the MIZ file first! Jinro Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 I'll try saving the mission when I put it through the ME. As far as FC2 being full of bugs, this is really the only bug I've come across.

Jinro Posted July 9, 2010 Author Posted July 9, 2010 Works fine now.....and I managed to find a bug. On one mission (can't recall the name) I'm ordered by "Wizard 7" to ignore my programmed waypoints and maintain a heading of 035 for 39 miles, then contact the FAC. I fly for at least 5 minutes at 035, and never hear from the FAC......and then run into a massive SAM battery :P

They have two randomly selected missions you undertake and you're given directions to the FAC based on a bearing and range from one of your waypoints. They do work but you have to fly the path fairly accurately, and there's no logic for telling you you've missed it.
Rider1 Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 I think the immortality "bug" only effects the AFM planes. Made a single mission, runway start, SU25T and turned immortal and crash recover on in both the gameplay options and mission options. Took off and dove her into the dirt. Destroyed. Switched to a Mig, lacking the AFM and no crash. Bounced right back up no damage. Is anyone able to get the AFM planes immortal? I have a list of missions that I cant get through, and would like to at least fly and see just what is killing me and have a look at the battle. Getting old flying out there only to get destroyed before i get a shot off and having to re-fly back out there doing the CTRL Z shuffle over and over :)

AFM planes can't crash in to the ground and survive. I'm not sure if they can get hit and survive though, you'll want to test that. Jinro Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 Oh, random question. How can you tell if the mission was a success? The debriefing page only gives me statistics.
Nate--IRL-- Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 If the mission designer has designed in goals for the mission, you can get a progress percentage by pressing ' in game. Over 50% can be a successful mission or you might need 100%, depending on the mission designers whim. Nate Ka-50 AutoPilot/stabilisation system description and operation by IvanK- Essential Reading
Rider1 Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Hi Nate.. Tested it again as you suggested. Put a few gun emplacements out, again made sure I had Immortal in mission and game settings. flew out there with a Mig and and was shot many times but took no damage. Flew both AFM jets with Immortal options still in place. Both took damage from the guns and were shot down. So, it looks like the AFM planes cannot be made Immortal. FWIW. Rider
Panzertard Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 AFM is not immortal - it's a feature. Dont know why, but it's by design. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
Jinro Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 Odd thing is....I've been playing the campaign and immortality has been working. However my wingman is an idiot....his rate of climb after take-off is ridiculous, which is nothing new from original LOMAC. :joystick:
Jinro Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 Ok, this is really starting to piss me off. I got immortality to work in the A-10 and F-15 missions, but it refuses to work in the Su-25 missions. In game options, I set immortality on, and checked "use the settings for all missions". I opened the Su-25 missions in the ME and under mission options set immortality to "enforce". I also set it to "value". I am still getting shot down. Seriously, is it that hard to code immortality correctly, ED?
