winz Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Onlu SU-25 and SU-25T uses AFM... The Valley A-10C Version Revanche for FC 3
Jinro Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 Ok....so I'm just now being told that only the Su-25 uses "AFM".....I thought AFM applied to all ground-pounders...no one has bothered to tell me what the bloody hell AFM stands for. And why was this "feature" considering immortality not mentioned in the documentation that came with the game?
Konovalov Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Yep only the 25's have AFM. It's a little clumsy that you can set immortal however it is overridden if you fly either of the 25's. Can't say I have come across this being mentioned in any of the documentation but at least I know now. Jinro Posted January 17, 2011 Author Posted January 17, 2011 It seems a bit clumsy to me that only two aircraft in the entire game are so drastically different from the other 5.
Konovalov Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Jinro, Back in the original Lockon not a single aircraft had the AFM, at least that is what I think was the case as it was quite a few years back now. It was only with the unofficial Flaming Cliffs addon disk that the AFM was introduced into the Su25T/SU25. Yes it is a shame that the AFM wasn't extended to other aircraft within FC2 but that is the way it is. I guess ED were working on DCS A10c and/or other priorities. I still think there is plenty of content and mileage to be found in FC2. And only now am I getting into it having sorted out my computer and I'm having a blast. Just need to get around to programing my X52Pro. :joystick: Intel i7-8700K | Asus Maximus X Formula | Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR4 3200MHz | Gainward Phoenix GTX1070 GLH | Samsung 960 EVO NVMe 1 x 250GB OS & 1 x 500GB Games | Corsair RM750x 750W | Corsair Carbide Air 540| Win10 | Dell 27" 1440p 60Hz | Custom water loop: CPU EK-Supremacy EVO, GPU EK-GTX JetStream - Acetal+Nickel & Backplate, Radiator EK-Coolstream PE 360, Pump & Res EK-XRES 140 Revo D5, Fans 3 x EK-Vardar 120mm & 2 x Corsair ML140 140mm
Jinro Posted January 18, 2011 Author Posted January 18, 2011 I really haven't bothered programming my x52. The only "programming" I did was through the in-game settings. I would get much better mileage out of FC2 if AI SEAD would do it's job and my Su-25 wouldn't get shot down by SAMs....which are impossible to see due to the Su-25's horrid visibility. I may just have to edit the missions to my liking, which has been taking up 80% of my "play time" recently. I've spent less time actually playing this game than I have just trying to get it to work right.

Sorry but missed this when replying with my iPhone yesterday. AFM stands for advanced flight model and it was introduced in the Flaming Cliffs addon and continued in FC2 with the Su25 getting a better 3d model I think to match the T variants level of detail. It is as mentioned previously only for the SU25 vanilla and T models. I don't think that the AFM is up to the level of DCS Blackshark but I'm sure the developers could confirm that.
