NRG-Vampire Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 (edited) Problem: If we connected to a server with DCS-BS (to control the Kamov) and later we need to change to LOFC2 (to control an aircraft) in the same server/mission then we must quit and run another ED game while we are loosing score :( Question to Panzertard & Others: How will possible to reconnect with same name and IP to server without loosing game score ? I can imagine a Server option which allow to players quit (DCS-BS) and rejoin (LOFC2) in 5 minutes. (waiting to reconnect time option) or a Q & R - quit and rejoin button beside the Quit button which is not deleting the players from the client list (waiting as Spectator) but how ? lua ? :helpsmilie: Edited July 20, 2010 by NRG-Vampire

Eddie Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Why is that important? :) What he said. Why does score matter, surely what matters is your contribution to the completion of the mission objective(s) and not a pointless number. I've never really understood peoples obsession with points, hell I never even knew there was a scoreboard in DCS/LO until someone was talking about it in the 104th TS channel a few weeks ago.
Boberro Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 Play for fun, anyway nobody who cares about score will look on game's score table but on server's one. Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D ಠ_ಠ ツ
Moa Posted July 20, 2010 Posted July 20, 2010 (edited) NRG-Vampire, I'm working hard (virtually every night) on a scoreboard that uses data collected on a game server (in particular, the 104th). The hard part is making it robust and simple enough that anyone can run it (the FC1 system I made used Java 'enterprise' technologies which required a little more skill to install). We used to have such things for FC1 and we're trying to make them a reality for FC2. The task is much harder due to the data output missing critical stuff, like callsigns in the debrief.log for example, which means you have to cross-match with the network log that has these things but a different system for timestamps, blah blah. In short, *accurately* parsing FC2 logs is a lot tougher than with FC1 (which had other flaws). So, persistent scores are coming, and this scoring system will be shared with the communiity (not just the 104th). I'm sure many people will not like it though since career teamkills and crashed landings, crashes from running out of fuel etc are recorded for eternity :) Actually, despite spending months on the software (far longer than I'd hoped since it is very tricky once you get into the details if you don't want to modify LockOn itself [which I'm trying to avoid]) I have to agree with Viper, I don't think scores are that important except to gauge your personal progress - scores as an inter-pilot ranking system has imperfections. Panzertard Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Vampire, what Moa said - thats good news. There's no plans to do this in servman for now. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning

Choose the Summary tab and it shows the total flight time for the current month and career (over all months) for various statistics including flight time. It is divided by fighter aircraft and attack aircraft and the version I'm working on will have rotary aircraft. @Panzertard: thanks man. I know servman does stats, which is cool as I may laverage your work a little if I need a boost to match the debrief and network logs.
