Maulkin Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 (edited) As of the latest patch for Black Shark, which makes it compatible online with Flaming Cliffs 2 (among other things) the old traning tracks became invalidated (because they are not recorded videos like for Flaming Cliffs 2) which means they would have to either re-record the tracks (which is painful) or simply do the same thing they did with Flaming Cliffs 2 which is to create videos. Well I was browsing in the files section of DCS and it appears they have created videos! So I downloaded all of them and installed them, then confirmed their installation location, but if I go into the menu of Black Shark and try to watch them it still gives the error message that I would have to roll back my patch of Black Shark. Is there something I should be doing to enable these videos? EDIT: Also, Basic_Flight_Procedures_Video_EN appears to be corrupted. :( Edited July 23, 2010 by Maulkin --Maulkin Windows 10 64-bit - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 3.7 GHz - 32 GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM - EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 - Asus Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard - Samsung EVO Pro 1 TB SSD - TrackIR 4 Pro - Thrustmaster Warthog - Saitek rudder pedals - Lilliput UM-80/C with TM Cougars

Nate--IRL-- Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 The Current guess is that these videos are for the Steam version. Either that or they are just broken and don't install and alter the Black shark Training Menu properly. However, after you install them you can find the *.ogm video files in folders in the X:\DCS - Black Shark\Training\BS\en folder. If you can't play OGM files, download FFDSHOW and Media Player Classic Basic_Flight_Procedures_Video_EN is indeed corrupted. I'd expect this will be sorted out when Matt gets back. Yeah I have all those too. :) Just wanted to fix the ingame menu... guess I am a stickler for everything working. ;) The Current guess is that these videos are for the Steam version. If you can't play OGM files, download FFDSHOW and Media Player Classic I have been using VLC media player when I bought Flaming Cliffs 2. It is handy because it gives you more control of the videos. I guess I was expecting the menu system in Black Shark to allow them to be played ingame (like FC2) and those files were put up on the DCS website relatively recently (in the last month or so) as I check there pretty often. I just thought I had missed an announcement somewhere describing how to enable the videos in the menu system. --Maulkin Windows 10 64-bit - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X @ 3.7 GHz - 32 GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM - EVGA FTW3 RTX 3080 - Asus Crosshair VIII Hero motherboard - Samsung EVO Pro 1 TB SSD - TrackIR 4 Pro - Thrustmaster Warthog - Saitek rudder pedals - Lilliput UM-80/C with TM Cougars
Distiler Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 (edited) Haven't seen any announcement myself. SmukY Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 (edited) Why was the removing training tracks from 1.0.2 good for? I can't find any (good) reason for it. I'm deaf and I can't understand any word from the movies on website and the reason why i prefer the training tracks is because they were subtitled. So now I don't know from where I can learn how to use ABRIS, datalink and else other. PS: I supported ED too much. Let's get start with it: - I bought the cheap version from the Russia - because it was out a long time before in Europe and I was too eager. - When it was released in Europe, I bought it too. The training tracks were still in game. - Yesterday I bought the Steam version because it doesn't have Starforce ... yes, just because of that. But it doesn't have any training tracks, just only (and no offence) stupid 'Download' link which leads to DCS mainpage with tutorial videos. I bought the game for 40€ and I think I'm fully legitimated to demand the Training tracks back in next patch! Edited July 28, 2010 by SmukY Helicopters don't fly, they just subdue the air. Baal1606687932 Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 "Training tracks can't be played in patched version. Sorry. Please uninstall patch to view training tracks." message will always appear in 1.0.2. It is placed in "BlackShark\modules\me_training.lua" in the body of "show" function. This file has been modified in 1.0.2 in order to make DCS and FC2 using the same files structure I presume. With little lua modification and restoration of backuped training files (located in Backup folder after patch) i was able to revert all changes introduced in 1.0.2 patch in this script and old training tracks works fine. Of course they were recorded in unpatched version of the sim, so sometimes heli is not doing what it supouse to do. But if you want to listen to the instructor or take control over the aircraft it is enough. If you would like I can prepare ModMan version of my changes. Baal1606687932 Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 Yes, I can take a look at these video files. Now im investigating new training methods used in 1.0.2 patch. It seems that both, video files and training tracks are supported in current approach. All I need is understanding of directories and files structure that have to be followed in order to play trainings properly. I will post further info soon. Nate--IRL-- Posted July 29, 2010 Posted July 29, 2010 I did a quick test and it seems to work fine, Thanks Baal. Might be an idea to add it to the File library. Perhaps somebody from ED can included it in the setup files for the videos and re-host them on the site. SmukY Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Well I didn't knew the .exe files on DCS main page were tutorials which you only install them in the Black Shark's directory. Some of the links were broken, but I managed to download all of them from different locations, installed them and now I have my training videos in the game. I overreacted a bit and I'm sorry if I did upset someone with my post. Helicopters don't fly, they just subdue the air. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
aairon Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 Hello I have the Baal mod installed and now I can't find the training tracks lol. Every time I do a search I come to this thread. I found them at one time but decided on the you tube ones, but now I would like to view them within the sim. Also if they are in my back up folder can someone tell me where to find them and where they should be put to work properly with this Mod? Baal1606687932 Posted August 4, 2010 Posted August 4, 2010 (edited) Hi, It is correct. First mod "Training menu fix" which makes Training menu work is not enough. You should also download first five videos from this page. As an addition you can revert old training tracks using my second mod "DCS: BS v1.0.0 Training Tracks". And one thing, these training tracks were recorded in previous version of the game, so many of them may not be played correctly. If you would like to find training tracks in your Backup folder manualy, try this path: Backup\missions\training but they have to be arranged in a specific manner to work with BS 1.0.2.
