Just a quick tip to recenter your rudders, double tap the "Z" or "X" key

a very good tip, thanks

but the in-game pedals continue to travel in the last direction you pushed until they hit the virtual "stop"

thanks - just when I think I understand it all - something unexpected happens

There are certain situations where you trim and center the pedals but the in game pedals (what you see in the cockpit) continue to travel in the last direction you pushed until they hit the virtual "stop" This results in uncontrolled spin.

In 2 years I haven't experienced anything like that.

It happens if you hold down the trim button. Holding trim while manovering is about the only way you can move in close combat situations at all (unless you switch to FD mode).

A lot of real chopper pilots fly this way. When enroute you make small corrections and press trim each time, but when you have to bank hard because you came around the corner face to face with an Apache or a jet then what? How long will you survive doing adjust-trim-adjust-trim ad nausem? You can't, you have to press and hold the trim button down, complete your manover then release when you are where you want to be..

That is the other outstanding issue with the G940 is that in the real world when you hold the trim down it releases pressure from the stick. With the G940 it doesn't. You have to push against the FFB then trim, it doesnt release tension from the stick like it should. When you release the button the stick holds in position. It's in the manual and been discussed in the forums before.

I haven't been able to try it on say a MSFFB2 or anything but it is my understanding that it does work properly on that old stick.

That is why some people have the problem with the rudder worse than others. It's just a bug that ED haven't delved into yet because not everyone manovers by holding trim. Some gave up and just use FD mode to cheat it. Others use the Z X trick or trim reset....

I am maneuvering holding the trim from the beginning I got this sim, because it is the only "stable" way while using non FFB controllers. It never happened to me, that rudder has stuck to side or something like that.

With all due respect Slayer, it's speculation about what you say regarding in game rudder trim slip. I have flown this Sim since it has been released with my TM Cougar and Saitek Rudder Pedals, and NEVER have I experienced my rudder slipping past where they shouldn't be - with FD enabled or not.

PS: here's what Matt Starrett said about G940 Hall sensors in this forum:

The Rudder pedals, throttles and rotaries use variable resistors. Only the Stick X and Y axis use a Hall effect contactles sensor.

I have to agree with ZaltysZ. I've not had an issue with centering the rudder trim and I hold trim for large manouvers as well.

They always recenter fine as soon as I hit "Z"

With all due respect:

Regarding the rudder axis on my G940 I said I "suspect" it was a hall sensor, even if it is a resistance pot it is hyper sensitive. Your using Saitek pedals and a TM stick so your hardware is different I was simply pointing out the problem I see on my machine. I have been flying this also since the Russian version came out so I'm not a noob. Just because you have NEVER seen this problem doesnt mean that there isn't a problem between the game and another hardware configuration.

I'll post a trackfile of it happening when I get some spare time.

I never once implied that you were a NOOB Slayer. I'm simply eluding to the many, many negative responses from G940 owners right on the Logitech Forums, and the lack of Logitech solution from Mark Starrett (global product marketing manager for the G940). Quite possibly, your rudders slipping themselves are the result of those variable resistors - period. That's why I said "good luck with your G940", as not too many other people have had luck with that system.

You can post all the track files that you want, but if your Rudders slip, it's probably not the game, it's most likely your G940 Rudder Pedals. I would also double check your in Game Axis setup, too ensure there are no other Axis' working against you.

Sorry you took it to heart.

Peace.

No offence taken:) it's all good. I had similar problems with my X52 Pro twist grip rudder doing the same thing. After a 2nd new piece of hardware giving me problems I was starting to suspect the game. I'll have to play with the rudders in the calibration page to see if they are indeed spiking because that would most likely cause this issue also.

In my X52, I get rid of the spiking rudder by handling the stick off the table and doing the base to oscilate from one side to another just twisting my wrist five or six times.
