You wanna know i bought BS 2 month after realease. I flyed it for the first time and only once last night. My hotas not even configured.

During all this time i was gathering my gear so i could play with pleasure.

I just know this i was able to take off and crab walk, unable to fly straight, ok it was more of a drunk fly, and drunk land almost on my side.

Coppers are a damn diferent thing.

but now i m excited, hooked, what kept me from going on and still scare me a litle is the cheer amount of thinking to hold all those keys in a more or less intuitive way. I really wish i had some knd of cockpit at home.

If i can start up take off fool around in the air combat will be a natural outcome.

On an off topic note, If TM is starting to increment theyr hotas with part of the side panel they could very well do complete side panels. could they not ? :D

I too don't care for flying the Black Shark. As mentioned before, you spend way too much time fighting the sucker. The control inputs are very awkward and I end up by looking like those drunk pilot demonstrations at air shows. What the heck - why is this thing yawing and pitching up like a mother!? Trim damn you! Ah...coming in for a nice landing here, what the...now I'm getting sucked towards the ground outta nowhere!? Oops, just snapped my rotors off trying to climb outta it. *Closes sim, starts DCS A-10C*.

On another personal note, TrackIR/FreeTrack becomes extremely important in Black Shark. I have TIR4, but for some reason, my neck starts hurting soon after using it. Also - it's impossible to click switches when your view is moving around from the slightest head movement. 'Master switch...on...NO DON'T TURN OFF THE FUEL!'

How To Fix Your X-52's Rudder!

Welcome to actual flight dynamics where you actually have to learn the system. Just having a joystick and throttle and expecting to jump in and fly isnt good enough. It takes time, patience, and actually reading the flight manual and watching the instruction videos to get any decent flying skills. Read up and practice. Once you learn it, its so much more enjoyable than the other sims out there where you can just jump in and expect to be able to blow stuff up. Its almost like; its real or something.

Start where every pilot starts. Learning to fly.

Put heading hold off and spend as long as you need flying around the airfield. Speed up, slow down, hover, turn in a hover and so on.

Then when you have "the bitch" FULLY under control, start thinking of using it's systems and weapons.

That's how I did it and how everyone should do it.

It's not about learning what flight dynamics are, it's about transitioning from fixed wing to rotary wing.

My point exactly....

Yesterday i did my second flight just cared to see that trim was T and even mistaken collective for another axis for mistake.

Even them was able to take off, rolling take off are a waste of time and fuel :D

get around pitifully and land about 10 m from where i wished. But i was quite proud to be able to follow terrain

The only thing i really dont get is how to do turn in the damn thing.

Whoever digital self that saw my flight surely was WTF!!

I surely have to read the manual, but digital manual + flying, don t work. I too pennyless to print it now. Flying a Chopper is quite more complicated than a plane.

And surely the lack of horizontal speed call for a mind remaping to know whats happening. I was always: " Damn i m crawling", and checking my séed i was almost 200KM/H

Well I feel the exact opposite. I find flying a Blackshark alot easier than flying a fixed wing aircraft. You have probably been playing flight sims a long time and are used to fixed wing mechanics. Im pretty new to flight sims so I did not have pre conceived expectations. As strange as it sounds I think your experience is "handicapping" you. Its not harder its just different.

If any of you would like to learn navigation training in a relaxed enviroment West Coast Hops has some excellent teachers at http://www.westcoasthops.com/wch/. They are very talanted, understand aircraft systems and procedures, are great pilots, and can even teach you how to read aeronautical charts. In FSX you can have a Pilot / Copilot setup wich is useful for real time flight instruction. Tell them QuickSilver sent you.

Last night i did an around base flight.

my coclusion is that and helicopter is much less manche joltable than an airplane, i will have to create a special axis setup for Black shark.

Now i had a problem that was when Autopilot was off the damn shark was wanting to scratch his tail with his nose. always in a nose up stand. No matter how or how much i trimmed. I always had to compensate with cycle (a lot) which was bothersome.

Anyone knows what it could be ?

Which leave me to another plea:

A little explanation on how trim works, i thought i had the concept but now i m pretty sure i m was wrong:helpsmilie:

On the bright side i was able to to some nice flat /up / down curves. But has i ws indestrutible mode, i m pretty sure i may have slapped the rotors against one another some times.

Thanks

lets give you some compare between fixed wing and chopper from my angle.

in my flying carrier i fly propellers plane , jet combat plane , combat helicopters and now i am on transport helicopter Mi8.

you can look this from 2 aspects:

- piloting technique

- g force

in my case:

-flying every plane i fly even prop or jet is very simple in aspect of piloting technique but your body safer G and you must be in cardie vascular condition to make it good. and in plane i felt like GOD i have all sky and its no restriction for me :)

-flying the chopper is very hard in aspect of piloting technique and for G you can say its barely exist in compare with airplane. and i felt like i siting in some egg or bubble (i dont have nose of craft) and flying and no adrenalin :(

-i felt safer when fly plane because when i fly chopper i am almost fixed target

-i have so much better % to stay alive in combat with plane. (i can leave from fight any time when i see is not safe for me anymore) SPEED IS LIFE !!!

one old russian pilot say if you learn to fly MI8 you can fly any craft after this. (i realize this when i come to this helicopter)

but all in all the best flying for pleasure and adrenalin was on PLANES :)

in world helicopter pilot are put into the background and fighter pilots grab top of the cake. in some movie do you ever make a look on some helicopter when is there some big jet fighter plane :) all like nice , expensive and power car or motorbike :) and people say for some women ''she is like plane'' not ''she is like helicopter'' :)

sorry i go in off topic this is for another story . . .

Did you disable the 3 primary autopilot stabilization channels? If you did thats why. The chopper is very difficult to fly without them and they should never be turned off intentionally.

Succellus I play on the 104th public server about everynight 10:45 PM Centeral. I would be more than happy to give you a crash course in trimming. I have taught 4 people this month that could not control the chopper. When I was done they could control the chopper (nothing fancy were talking basic straight flight and turning) and the last one could even enter a perfect hover manually. If you want to meet up I'll try my very best to help you. My tag in the server is WH_QuickSilver. My XFire is zquicksilverz.

As an aside - it is possible to fly extreme aerobatics in Black Shark.

I was present when Frazer did this show at LLTM 2008:-

It is instructive to watch the movement of cyclic/collective/rudders in the cockpit view.

I believe Frazer flew with FCS OFF.

Frazer sent us the track file and the pic-in-pic was created By EvilBivol, similar to

(note fingers adjusting trim)

I did make one adjustment to the track file. Frazer finishes his display by flipping the BS over on its back as he is landing. The resultant crash I thought was bad PR so I took over in the last few seconds and landed. So the sloppy landing is me, not Frazer!

Would like to add this one:

Note the track.

Sorry - forgot that one!

Note that Frazer uses a standard throttle as a collective. I have flown Black Shark with a real collective, and it is much easier due to have a longer "throw".

Mind you, Frazer is one of the best, if not the best, rotary and fixed wing virtual air display pilots in the world that I have come across.

yes it is but this little finesse separates champion from the best pilots in world :)

nice flying and piloting technique for virtual pilot. i recommended you to try real thing to connect enjoyment of virtual flying and real flying.

continue to pratice and fly like that , you are on right way.

for 10h flying in real helicopter you will learn to fly it with no problem with this skill in virtual world.

hehe yea, flying virtual is much much cheaper though ;)

And by Dutch law, you must fly 25 hours with instructor no matter what.....

money , money , money ...

when i was young because i dont have money to fly i join military air force and all was free :)

flying is my work now but for my soul on free days i fly hangglider and i can say in hangglider i feel free like eagle in sky , so free in air with no engines so close to nature.

if you like flying try hanggliding this is the cheapest way to get your WINGS.

some video to motivated you :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOvtcqD4g-s

Well, I flew gliders for about 6 years and I want to pick that up again (flying gliders is also relatively cheap). Next to that I do some photoflights over Holland (as photographer) every now and then.

Thing is, the urge to fly a real helicopter is very big, even bigger to fly on airshows, the money isn't there though (I need a sponsor :D).

I play il2 sturmovik 1vs1 dogfight but in my country Serbia you can't get sponsors for such things :( and i dont have time to pratice like other virtual pilots and still i have knowledge and skill from real life to win in duel. but you know that every game have some fineness and you must know how game breathe to get maximum from your skill.

''in counter strike some kid kill all players (real spec ops) with head-shots or knife but in real life he wouldn't live for second in this kind situation against them '' the same situation is in IL2 and FC2 :) but we have FUN and this is all we need :) leave war and bad things behind us . . .
