ZQuickSilverZ Posted September 4, 2010 Posted September 4, 2010 I am just curious if any of you have tried to use any hardware meant for FSX for DCS BS with any success. Let me link some of the things I am wondering about. http://www.saitek.com/uk/blog/?p=40 http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/switch.html http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/fip.html http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/compedals.html Check these out. Let me know if you use any of them. If you do use them let me know if they work "out of the box". If they don't work out of the box tell me if and how you got them to work. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. "Off with his job" Mr Burns on the Simpsons. It has BLINKY LIGHTS!!" author unknown. These titles are listed in the chronological order I purchased them. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frederf Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 The pedals should work full stop and the switch panel should work for everything with the exception of perhaps the gear indicator lights. These are just normal USB game controller inputs. The output displays like the warn lights panel, MFDs, etc. that display sim data usually require specific sim-to-display bridging code. I'm sure DCS can be bridged to these devices with the proper effort considering how open DCS is in terms of data outside the normal program, the question is if it's required, has anyone done it for you, or are you motivated enough to program your own interface.
ZQuickSilverZ Posted September 5, 2010 Author Posted September 5, 2010 I am no programmer but If someone should make these work and release the code I would most definately be intrested in a purchase. tonym Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Goflight switches I am using Goflight switches and autopilot very succesfully with BS. You need to download the GF Keys software and then the keys etc can represent any key combination.
Succellus Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Interesting, wonder the price and size since it would require international shipping. monsterZER0 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 WOW, are those pedals new? They look waaaaaaaay better than the usual Saitek pedals I've seen. Core i5 750 @ 3.4Ghz | 8gb G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 1600 | ASUS P7P55D | ATI Radeon HD6970
ZQuickSilverZ Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 monsterZERO they are indeed new. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. Succellus Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 They indeed look nice i wonder if the space between the pedals is confortable. CH pedals are way to cramped. TeeJay82 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 The panels are only compatible with fsx as plug in modules like FSUIPC i e-mailed saitek and asked if there was any plan to make the panels Button like, like joysticks, but by the look of the reply i got, it didnt seem like they were going to do that... so id say, if you only like FSX propeller planes, buy it, if you wanna enjoy something else, DONT. i bought the Switch panel, plugged it in, tested it for 15mins, and sold it the day after. useless for anything but FSX
ZQuickSilverZ Posted September 7, 2010 Author Posted September 7, 2010 Wow TeeJay82 thanks for the info. It is appreciated. I need, I need, I need... What about my wants? QuickSilver original. Ghost17 Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Didn't really explain my question very well on the other thread so I'll try here, since there seems to be a pretty fair knowledge base: I have yet to find a way to set or program my pedals for toe brakes in BlackShark. This axis does not exist in BS like it does in FSX. I can program them for the W key, which is simply brakes on-- no gradual or hard application-- just on or off and use the rudder to steer on the ground. If this is all true, I guess I'll need to live with it. If you don't know where you're going you need to be careful because you might not get there. -- Yogi Berra
Cp Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 There are no differential brakes on the ka-50, the brakes are controlled with the handle on the cyclic, so you got to turn with the rudder on the ground. But you can bind your toe brakes on your pedals to the brake on the cyclic, if you go to 'options' and then 'controls' and then select 'axis commands' from the drop down menu, you'll find the 'Wheel brake' axis there.
