Hi everybody...after new patch, i dont hear vikhr launch sound, and gear up/down motion anymore...Does anybody know how one can get louder sounds for that?

Go to:

 

<BS ROOT>\Sounds\sdef

 

Open example:

 

missilelaunch.sdef

 

wave = "Effects/MissileLaunch"

inner_radius = 100

outer_radius = 1000

 

add:

 

gain = 2.0

 

File after change looks like:

 

wave = "Effects/MissileLaunch"

inner_radius = 100

outer_radius = 1000

gain = 2.0

 

2.0 means it is 2x louder (or louder about 2 dB)... it is example value.

Since v1.0.2 we have a new soundengine.

There is a low-pass-filter for the sounds you hear in the cockpit.

The launch sound of the missile is a high frequence sound so you can't hear it anymore.

What's the correct file for the landing gear?

Is it gear or also gearend and gearloop?

The new sound engine does frequency-based attenuation. Changing where the frequency cutoff point is has a dramatic effect even without changing overall master volume of sounds.

How do I turn up bullet damage? I dont even know I am being shot at until my shkval goes out, or I get a warning light up top. I tried adding gain = 2.0 to bullethit and bulletricochet and nothing changed. Still silent. I think the gear worked as did the missile launch. I have missile at gain = 4.0 in trk.

 

This is a straight run straight at the enemy, no defense except for flares to reduce chance of getting hit with missile. 2 Cobras take me down I believe and I hear no bullets hitting my a/c.

OK, Frederf's remark might be very useful to get better effects also for bullet hits, but how to change the cutoff frequency?

We'd need an extra command, similar to gain, but then perhaps something like cutoff... Anyone knows what it is, or is it a global thing for the cockpit?

to the top of my 'autoexec.cfg' in the Config folder, and have (for me at least) a good mix - maybe not realistic, but if it saves me forgetting to stop auto-dispensing flares, I can live with it! "

I hear bullet damage, launches etc now without modifying anything else.
