HitchHikingFlatlander Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 I think the best bet for ATC would be real people taking control of ATC sorta like VATSIM. In the future maybe someone could make an addon module that simulates a radar and line of sight from say the Control tower. Of course finding someone to fill that role would probably be next to impossible. But VATSIM does it. I do have to admit my own knowledge of VATSIM is very limited and I'm probably way over my head already LOL! EJECTING!!!!!!! http://dcs-mercenaries.com/ USA Squad
aaron886 Posted September 12, 2010 Posted September 12, 2010 PANS-ATM standard is that you need permission for crossing every runway and the U.S has just followed suit. http://www.faa.gov/documentLibrary/media/Notice/N7110.528.pdf But yeah, interested in whether this will be the case. Accurate ATC would be so much more immersive. Exactly what I was saying, FWIW. Regardless, "taxi to" is a phrase no longer used.
Mizzy Posted September 14, 2010 Posted September 14, 2010 Yes that looks ready, can you release it now please so I can have a go :) Mizzy

hassata Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 For A-10C, virtually all of our programming resources for radio comms went into JTAC and AI Flight Comms. ATC will be about the same as BS/FC2 minus a few minor changes. Improved ATC is certainly near the top of the list for the next DCS module. An option to run comms through another soundcard to output to a headset would be great. This adds a lot of immersion to FSX. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
TwoLate Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 An option to run comms through another soundcard to output to a headset would be great. This adds a lot of immersion to FSX. I do that now thru teamspeak. My speakers are for game and then I use a USB headset for comms only. All of this on one soundcard. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
hassata Posted September 15, 2010 Posted September 15, 2010 I was thinking more along the lines of having the AI JTAC and other planes and ATC playing through a headset, whilst the game would output through the main speakers. I can do that now by using the onboard sound card in conjunction with my Sound Blaster card. I also stream live ATC or recorded mil coms, which can also be a treat. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Yes that would be cool to setup that way. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Geskes Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Where do you get these recordings? I did find a recording of 2 F14 vs 2 MIG-23 that was very nice. Think it was used for some version of falcon menu sound effects as I recognized some parts. http://ka8vit.com/sd/SHOOTDN2.mp3 I was thinking more along the lines of having the AI JTAC and other planes and ATC playing through a headset, whilst the game would output through the main speakers. Succellus Posted October 20, 2010 Posted October 20, 2010 Its sad if metrics are getting on... A feet ? Mine or yours, A japonese one or an african one. I agree that an abrupt change would bring chaos but such obsolete measurement should be brought down. ...add a spon of oil ? OK, which spoon ? soup or desert..lol so precise. An ooze ? A big drool or a small drip... i m overdoing. Those measurement system have its origin when nothing was set and its based on the "more or less". Only when metric system was brought forward that people tried to standartise it, why ? Because now there was a precise measurement system, the metric, and they standartize it or keep in a unprecise way, unreliable way. Old english VS french school, lol. I was thinking the same thing actually that a VATSIM plugin would be neat, but then I think those guys get a bit ansi about military ops. Theres a plugin called LOATC that does a fairly decent LOS based radar which is quite neat to run and I'm hoping will be updated for DCSW (The guy was still working on FC2 updates so theres hope) so that on a second PC, with tower view active would give you a fairly decent ATC experience if you are that way inclined.
