There is no better way to end a 10 hour day than with a cold beer and a delivery this must have come in the mail today. I am one happy guy. I will just clean it a bit through in some newer screws and maybe a set of black Dzus. It is not the NVIS one I wanted but it was not $500.00 either.

CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

T style can be for side by side mounting as in the F-16 console but not in this case.

Dzus rail you can just Google and look for the right angle or some time listed as 90 deg manufactures are

DFCI http://www.dfcis.com/ the PA 3500 line

SouthCo http://www.southco.com/en-us/d5

Most Aircraft supply companies have some

Dzus tool Instalation

Hi guys i was just asked about removal and installation of Dzus 1/4 turn connectors (3506-SC stud) here is a tutorial I made for anther site.

I have purchased two sets of DZUS tools in the past. Both off of eBay

th_0514131847_zpsa5d9634c.jpg

The ones i use most are the punch witch is a 3/32 inch or 2.27 mm to remove the DZUS. The holding block ,and the set tool I modified to use one thicker panels by grinding the shoulder higher on the tool.

To remove a DZUS fastener 3506-SC stud you would use the cup to hold the plate and fastener then tap the DZUS out of the plate with the punch and a hammer

If you use old DZUS connectors for a replacement you may have a hard time seating it in to the new panel if the neck is slightly still crimped but I have found if you use pressure and twist most will go in to the new plate. here is a picture of one with some crimp left in it.

th_0514131907_zps22b913a3.jpg

These are the tools to seat a new DZUS Fastener in to a panel the block you would use the other side with a pressure bump in it and the modified set tool

th_0514131852_zps8365da2b.jpg

First set the new DZUS in to the new panel by hand. If the panel is a home made one you will need to have a 100 degree counter sink used on the back. So the DZUS will crimp

th_0514131853_zps143b5dc6.jpg

Then position it and the panel over the block you will see it does not sit flat do to the pressure bump hitting the flat slot head in the connector once you press down on the connector and panel it will stay in position

th_0514131854a_zpsdb45df28.jpg

Now place the set tool on the inside of the DZUS connector hold every thing tight and hit the tool with a hammer and set the crimp.

IF you have a thick panel such as an EWMU you will need to grind off some of the set tool to make room for it to work with out smashing part of the panel.

th_0514131856_zps4505ae7f.jpg

and last but not least a drawing of tool use from one of the sets the other tool set the cup of the DZUS with out the slot screw and spring in place then crimp in the spring and slot screw after with both sets of tool.

You can remove or replace any DZUS connector with out breaking it or the support plate or the light plate.

The parts list for the AN/ARC 210 radio is as fallows the Sql appears to be a 1800 series enclosed rotary switch . http://www.cole-switches.com/pdfs/s1800.PDF

I don't have the panel or switch to test how it works. This is every thing I have in my notes . I tryed to purchase the panel from Red but he wanted a 4 diget figure for it and well gee I refused.

thanks a lot man!.

indeed looks like it is just a switch with two positions. strange.

the fact that the freq dial rotaries have two kinds in one row is also puzzling.

EDIT

aha, so those are absolute position encoders and not continuous rotation . i guess makes sense.
