Flamin_Squirrel Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Hi chaps. Just wondering, since the hog can almost carry its own weight in fuel, is there (going to be) any guidance on how to plan what fuel you should carry? I imagine for CAS in a low intensity war you'd carry the munitions required then just fuel to MTOW to allow maximum loitering time. For a low ingress attack in a high threat enviroment, you'd want to work out how much fuel you'd need and not take much more than that? Secondly, if the information is available yet, how detailed will the failure generator be? Perhaps more for the realms of FSX, but I'd personally like the risk of the occasional random failure as it means you can't get complaicent with check lists :book:.
joey45 Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 I would say , more info when the time comes... The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Avilator Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 Well, the A-10A manual has all the fuel planning charts, including effects from different stores. The airframe and engines have not changed, so I assume those figures are fairly accurate. But I think ED will publish these charts for the A-10C in the manual released with the simulation. Laud Posted September 27, 2010 Posted September 27, 2010 You usually plan fuel for the ingress + play time + egress + some more for the travel to your alternative AB (in case your homeplate isn't available when you return (i.e. because of technical problems or a crashed AC on the runway etc.)). All this needs to be calculated with the estimated fuel-flows (depending on weight, alt and speed). Indeed one needs a chart to know the fuel flows for several conditions. 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Asus ROG STRIX Z390-F Gaming, Intel Core i7 9700k , 32gb Corsair DDR4-3200 Asus RTX 2070 super, Samsung 970 EVO Plus M2, Win10 64bit, Acer XZ321QU (WQHD) TM HOTAS Warthog, SAITEK Rudder Pedals, TIR 5
