Speck863 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Greetings! Hi All, I might as well introduce myself and say Hi here. I want to say that I'm absolutely loving this sim and all of its complexities. Some day I hope to actually hit something. lol. A quick background: I have been flying sims since my Apple IIc and everything in between. I am an IT director at my place of work and I have to say if it weren't for flight sims I probably wouldn't have bothered with computers as much as I have. I build my own computers and try to keep up with all the new technology that comes out as one of my hobbies. I'm not sure why, but I didn't invest in DCS:BS. I heard about the DCS A10 from a thread in the iRacing forums and pounced on it as I've been secretly in love with the A10 ever since I knew of it. :) OK anyways, as far as FPS goes so far I've been very happy! I have absolutely all the eye candy cranked up and rarely hit 20FPS. Usually I'm seeing 40 - 45 or so. I'll list my system specs below: i7 930 @ 3.25GHz 6GB OCZ DDR3 1600 EVGA E758 Mobo EVGA GTX 470 EVGA GTX260 - dedicated Physx processor (we're not using Physx here so that does nothing but create heat) I'm leaving the hard drives out because I have a crazy situation going on with that but the sim resides on a raid 0 array. Cheers!
jctrnacty Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 (edited) Hi rusty, maybe iam not ark, but i have I7 930 on 3,8GHz with very common and cheap cooler Coolermaster Hyper 212+ I never tried to overclock over 4GHz (i have enough horsepower for all my games)but if you buy noctua cooler then you can get there without any problem. Mobo is GigaByte - UD3R x58 - high quality mobo with great capacitators and very cheap, i recommend. the only minuses of this mobo are one ethernet port and no wifi. if you want to overclock, buy 1600 mhz ddr3 memmory from kingston. Distiler Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 My system is a Duo core E6600 cpu at 2.8 ghz, I have 4 gig of Ram, and am running Nividia GF 9800GT 512. I have the settings on medium with shadows on low and water on low. The real help is I'm running XP, I find a lot of games run better concerning FPS on XP. Anyway my eyes are'nt that great and neither is my hearing so I'm easy to please. The terrain, other aircraft and equipment on the ground look good and I have not had any stuttering problems. I'm sure it would look nicer with more power but it is very playable and fun as is. And this is the beta, its not optimized yet! Well, if it's like DCS:Ka-50 or FC2, going from XP to Vista or W7 is like buying a new computer, fps go up like 30-40%. Krippz Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Take out HDR and bloom effects and it would look almost as BlackShark. It doesn't make any sense this low performance, it is not even the alpha version. I hope they improve it or I won't be able to fly it. It may look similar to Black Shark without all the bells and whistles but comparing DCS A-10C to DCS Black Shark is like comparing an apple to an orange. Cosmetic changes are not the only changes that went on jtmedina. Again as many have said the Open Beta that we are currently using is not OPTIMIZED. So the FPS that you are seeing now may not be indicative of the FPS that you will see in the Gold version. It would be more constructive if someone created a benchmark (created a mission, decided on global graphical settings to test, etc) for everyone to use to compare graphical performance. popov54 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Greetings, I just wanted to state that I had a huge frame rate increase by merely changing the Texture Resolution to Low or Medium. Also bumping the screen resolution from 1920*1200 to 1600 or even the 1440 (to maintain aspect ratio does wonders). To illustrate, i was not able to even turn on HDR or Max shadows without a crash or slideswhow, now Im bumping up shadows to MAX and HDR on and it's flyable with a 2 core duo at 3.6mHz and an ATI HD4850. So Texture Resolution and your selected Screen-res in-gamecan improve your FPS vastly over any other in-game setting. Danger close!:pilotfly:
diveplane Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 The real help is I'm running XP, I find a lot of games run better concerning FPS on XP. .................. think your wrong there i switched from xp32 bit over to win 7 ultimate 64 bit found that black shark got a major boost for me in performance, and a10c simulator is running very well for me. my findings anyway on my rig. https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
audiohavoc Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 I ordered DCS A-10C and will have a chance to test it on Monday or Tuesday. I hope to be able to max out the graphics with my system specs, and I will report how things work out for me. My system specs are in my signature. Core i7-6950x, 512GB memory, Nvidia RTX 8000, PCIe SSD's, Windows 10 Pro.

viper3two Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Just a question, I have an I-7 965 overclocked at 4Ghz, a single GTX-295 and 6gb Corsair dominator. Sim runs pretty good, depending on what I am looking at anywhere from 20 to 60fps. Would a GTX-460, 470 or 480 make a difference? My guess is not much since this seems to be mostly processor dependent. Thanks

mikoyan Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 this is depressing probably my macboock pro will explode if I install DCS A-10  and I just bought it 3 months ago!!!
audiohavoc Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Okay, every setting maxed out including HDR, TSAA, 16xQ, and mirrors, and I am seeing fps in the 30-40+ range with a few dips to 25 fps when low and making fast turns above dense scenery. This is with the 32 bit version of the beta. Looking forward to the performance of the 64 bit final release when it is available. Core i7-6950x, 512GB memory, Nvidia RTX 8000, PCIe SSD's, Windows 10 Pro.
Bulletstop Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 If I have hdr on and everything but water maxed I get at sea level looking at the sun about 12, higher about 25 to 30. real high 60's ,lol with it off about 20-30 low level and high 50 and 60 every where else. If I set the settings at medium with hdr I stay about the 30 with the 32 bit. What is surprising if I use the 64 bit with high settings with hdr I stay in the high 30's. Krippz Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) I'm getting great FPS. Nearly everything maxed here (Heat Blur and Mirrors are turned off) and I average FPS in the 30-40 FPS range never drops below 25 no matter the circumstance. Lio Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 TGP FLIR and maverick is completly killing my framerate. TGP CCD is working fine. So i hope its just a optimization issue and its something that can be fixed.
thisisentchris87 Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Lio you could try reducing the Resolution Of cockpit display to 512 every frame, if you have it higher. egorter Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 I have turned everything to low, no HDR and am seeing about 12-20 fps. Heres the odd bit looking straight ahead not too bad turn head about 45 degrees and the frame rate drops noticeably. Turn a further 45 degrees to either side and it smooths out some. I have a feeling that my video cards are at the very bottom of the specs. 2 nvidia 8600gts in sli. Oh and I get the same slow downs in vidoe in external view as well. Lio Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Lio you could try reducing the Resolution Of cockpit display to 512 every frame, if you have it higher. Thanks ill try that, i got it at 1024 every frame atm. I hope its not to visable change xD i like if i can read my instruments clearly. But it must be a optimization issue. because its only if i use white/balck FLIR and maverick which is also FLIR. normal CCD operation of the TGP is not a problem.
thisisentchris87 Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 I haven't had any problems reading them. I have had the same problem with the TGP and MAV screens and I get the feeling that 1024 every frame had something to do with it. vortex360 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 My point is that a 9800GX2 isn't exactly a relic so I doubt it's the cause of poor FPS:D Man that thing belongs in a museum. Hee hee.
jctrnacty Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 OK i get 50 s on nevada in clean weather ,lowest fps are at 25. I have everything on max including heat blur, HDR, mirrors off My specs are x58 i 930 on 3,8 GHz 4 Gb ram and GTX 275,win 7 x64 I must say i was suprised with such a high fps. I expect final build to be even faster. RSharpe Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Is anyone running DCS A-10C on three 1920x1200 monitors? I'm guessing a single 5850 might not be sufficient.
