I started my new Job at DHL last week and my plans of intercepting someones WH Hotas and redirecting it to my house have failed.:lol::lol::lol::lol:

 

Unfortunatly they only deal with filters lol. Ah well maybe I can soon buy one with my wages:(

Half an hour ago: Doorbell.... Running down the stairs, taking big box, signing paper, running upstairs, unboxing!!

 

Don't have time to fly this afternoon but.... Can't resist to tell everyone how cool this thing is even when it is unplugged! I've only had a stock cougar so compared to that I notice a couple of things right away:

 

Its big! The bottom plate of the stick is like A4 paper format. The throttle is HUGE. It doesn't look that big from the pictures, but it is! I can barely reach the china hat with my thumb.

 

Throttle: With my cougar I always had to apply a certain amount of pressure before it would move and then it would move too much, past the AB detent it tended to "fall" into full AB all the time.

 

With warthog the throttle moves smooth as hell, moving the throttle up and down is really an impressive experience! Cougar feels like intercourse without proper foreplay, Warthog feels like well.. the opposite :)

 

Stick: Where with cougar you always feel the centers of both axes when you move the stick around, with warthog you feel nothing. There is no change of force required if you go further off center and wherever you move it, it feels the same. It's sooooo smoooth!! I guess you have to feel for yourself its really two different universes.

 

Can't wait to go fly tonight!

 

Also have troublesome news, at least for my country, because I got the last one from the shop I bought it and their next shipment is only coming December 10th and this is the same for multiple shops. I don't know if this is global and the first batch is sold out or something but just thought I'd share what I've heard.

Really I dont understand it. How can all of you who have a hotas warthog not have posted countless explosions of joy!! How can one only say: "Yeah its really nice". I have just flown a couple of hours and when it kind of started "clicking" I had the tears in my eyes man! This is to good to be true.

 

Only flicking the APU switch already got me completely in the zone. Sliding those throttles to maximum for take-off, its like you can feel everything now, you are connected to the plane, you are one with the simulator! It is so accurate you can make very very slow rolls very accurate and consistent. Pulling the trigger reminds of pulling the trigger on a real gun. They say there is only one thing better then sex and that is supposed to be heroine, I tell you, now there are two things better! I understand why some of your wives have trouble with you buying this. Its not because of the money, its because of the competition!

 

And if you rationally look at it she couldnt be more right. It has a lot more buttons, the microsticks are very similar, it only makes noise when you touch it, when one part gets pissed you can shut it down and continue with the parts that are still ok, if it doesnt go where you want it to you can trim it AND you can blow stuff up with it.

 

Well you do the math for yourself, there is only one right decision: GET THIS THING! Female objections are invalid as per the above and if you don't have the money it is worth the risk for jailtime if you try to steal one. Ethics need to go completely out of the window for this one. I think that this is morally permissable if you are flightsimmer :) Like it is morally permissable to steal food when you are about to starve. It is that essential. You must have it.

Boy did I have a close call today! I stupidly had my stick sitting on the edge of the desk while I messed with the throttle. Of course I inadvertently turned and knock it off the desk. The stick hit the floor and it popped the trim coolie hat off. The base of the stick put about a half inch deep gouge into my wood floor. good thing this thing is build so sturdy and everything else works fine after I put the coolie hat back on.

Handles are metal edged with plastic, levers are plastic. It doesn't matter though, you need this HOTAS. :) Get it... geeeeeet iiiiiiitt!

Was waiting for Christmas....but just saw the place with the best price I have seen in Switzerland has 15% off.....:music_whistling:

 

Order is in and the best thing is they are showing in stock (was backorded until the 24th last night). Waiting game now.

I asked the place where I ordered if they knew when they would get a new shipment since they didnt have any ETA, and they said we dont know, our supplier doesnt have them in stock. So instead I asked TM when they would be sending shipments and how large and TM replied today and said the HOTAS is available, they are just waiting for orders to send them out. So if I dont get it soon, somebody somewhere in the supply chain forgot to do their job. Just thought the reply from TM would be interesting to other posters here who are also waiting for their HOTAs, according to TM they are ready and waiting for orders.
