1stVFW Data Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 TrackIR 5 in DCS A10 Beta - No Joy I have done the TrackIR "check for game updates" I have done the TrackIR "check for game software" I have a green light on my TrackIR 5, so I know its on DCS A10 is showing on the TrackIR 5 "titles" tab list TrackIR Version is 5.0.300 (Build 6225) Not sure what Im missing? Ragtag Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Both the trackir software and game has to be started with admin rights. It's abit weird because some games don't need this. Right click the icons, go to "compatibilty" tab and turn on "run this program as an administrator". [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I7 3930K. 16Gb Corsair Vengeance 1866mhz. Asus P9X79 Deluxe. Asus GTX680 2Gb. sobek Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Track IR does not support 64 bit executables yet. Run the game in 32 bit mode. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
Ragtag Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Yes, that to. When installing A-10 make sure you install additional 32 bit files to :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I7 3930K. 16Gb Corsair Vengeance 1866mhz. 1stVFW Data Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 Thank you for your quick responses gentlemen :) Both TrackIR 5 and DCS A-10C are running in windows compatibiliy mode, TraackIR 5 is XP compatible and DCS A-10C is Vista compatible, both have admin rights on. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Panzertard Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 You don't have to use compatability for any of them, that may actually just introduce issues. Instead, use the Run as Administrator for both, dowload game updates for TIR5, and be sure you started DCS:A10 x86 (not the native x64 version). The mind is like a parachute. Frogfoot1606687865 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Looking at the image in your last post you are running the 64bit exe. You need to run the 32 bit install called DCS A-10C_x86 Tom Windows 10 Pro 64bit, Gigabyte EX58-UD5, Intel i7 920 Corsair H70 water cooled @4GHz), Corsair XMS3 12GB (6x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel, Nvidia GTX780, OCZ Vertex 256GB SSD (for OS+DCS), TrackIR 5, TM Warthog HOTAS + Saitek Rudder

You can set "run as admin" permanently in that tab without setting any other compatibility settings. This way you don't have to right click and run as admin every time you want to play. MTFDarkEagle Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 it's not wrong, it's a different way Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
Lio Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Wrong. You can set "run as admin" permanently in that tab without setting any other compatibility settings. This way you don't have to right click and run as admin every time you want to play. WRONG :megalol: He said he was running it under XP SP3 compatibility and this is wrong. Ofc yes he could set the run as admin in the compatibility pane but that should also be the one thing he sets in there :smilewink:
Panzertard Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I meant: - Compatability as in "xp mode or vista mode". - Administrator as any way you like. The mind is like a parachute. It only works when it's open | The important thing is not to stop questioning
1stVFW Data Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 Thanks again for you help guys Where do I find the DCS A-10C_x86 file? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MTFDarkEagle Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 did you choose to install the optional 32 bit files at the installation? Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
1stVFW Data Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 The download page had no option for a 32 Bit File It shows, "Recommended system requirements: OS: Windows 7 64" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MTFDarkEagle Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 at installation, you can install allongside the 64 bit: the 32 bit files. It's the same download Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
1stVFW Data Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 My install did not offer that option The download page takes you to this download page You then download the four files setup.exe setup-1.bin setup-2.bin setup-3.bin I dont recall at any point an option to install the program in 32 Bit [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Lio Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 I dont remember a option either. It just threw all 4 exes on my desktop. x86 and x64 SP and MP exes.
1stVFW Data Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 I just installed this Beta a few days ago, Looks like there may be have been different download options for previous Betas. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
MTFDarkEagle Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 No, if you actually paid attention when you were installing you would have noticed rather than clicking next each time ;) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
1stVFW Data Posted October 9, 2010 Author Posted October 9, 2010 (edited) No, if you actually paid attention when you were installing you would have noticed rather than clicking next each time ;) You are correct I did not check that box. In my own defense, I had no way of knowing that the 32bit file was required to run my trackIR. So even if I had seen it, I had no reason to check the box at that time. "Hindsight is alway 20/20" So it looks like I will have to uninstall and reinstall the Beta so I can check the 32bit file box. Edited October 10, 2010 by 1stVFW Data [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

1stVFW Data Posted October 10, 2010 Author Posted October 10, 2010 That's why we have an Announcement thread in the Open-Beta Forum entitled 'Welcome AND PLEASE READ' :) 9- There is currently no TrackIR support for the 64bit version. We have requested these several months ago. I did read it...and the other 12 points. But having been involved with other betas, it never hurts to ask. In fact by asking I found out there is a work around. (Install 32bit), unfortunately I found out after the install. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Mavericko Posted March 30, 2012 Posted March 30, 2012 (edited) No, if you actually paid attention when you were installing you would have noticed rather than clicking next each time ;) I bought the game today, and my install did not allow me to choose a 32-bit install. All I can choose is desktop icon, DirectX and Visual C++. Solutions? Edit: Just noticed this was a very old thread, so I made a new one in the A-10 bugs forum. Edited March 30, 2012 by Mavericko
