Hi,

I just flew a fantastic mission armed with 6 Mavs (65H) and 4 GBU12's, I managed to lock and fire all 6 mavs at a convoy of tanks in one pass, 4 hit 2 missed. Then took the remainder out with GBU's and the GAU. However when landing, when my speed got down below 50 the Hog tipped back onto his tail and dragged his backside along the runway like a dog with worms. Spooling up the engines got her back on 3 wheels only to do it again when slowing down again. Any ideas what happened?

Cheers

Tom

I did, but it didn't play back correctly.

Exact same thing happened to me as well...I'm just guessing here but it's almost as if the concrete is visible, but not modeled in the physics interaction with the jet.

Maybe if you specify more it's easier for ED. Like runway, conditions, etc, etc.

Sort of related: I have had quite a few landing gear incidents at Nellis, namely after touchdown (greaser), gently let the nose down, rolling out at about 100 knots and then, with a sound like a steel garbage can being thrown down concrete steps, the left or right main gear collapses and I go skating off the runway into the toolies, dragging a wing tip. As I said, these incidents are not occurring after a HARD landing, but after smooth ones!

There are several probable reasons of it. If you have no payloads, empty GAU-8 and extended landing gear the CG of the plane is aft and then

1) You pulled the stick and the CG got aft the main wheels.

2) Runway bump was to high and your nosewheel was pushed up.

Anyway, try to send your track to USSR_Ric or Ulrich and if you have no track try to reproduce this accident.

By the way, have you one engine operation during the flight?

Had same sort of incident happened to me. I was playing around and on the second landing my tail hit the runway and stayed glued to the runway until I hit the brakes.

I haven't read the manual yet and do not know where CoG is on A10 but on all GA aircrafts I've flown CoG is in the front and dragging the tail along the runway should not be possible (with very low speeds).

Details:

Weather - CAVOC; no winds

payload - some explosive stuff

damage - no damage that I know

Attached is the track. Second landing. Nevermind what happend in between

I believe there is a "bump" somewhere along the Nellis runway. Was taking off as normal when nosewheel suddenly broke right off. I didn't do anything special. I was just running along in a smooth take off heh :)

AFAIK, A-10 is tail heavy because of the gun system and ammo and where the engines are placed to counteract this. Every time I have seen the A-10 on fuselage jack, they place them under the wing and tail and even when they download the gun, they have to put ballast on the nose to allow it to fly. Also they normally place a fuselage jack on the tail when they download the gun ammo or when they removed the gun.

Anyway, not expert, just what I seen on the RL jet, maybe that is what happened?

To whom it may concern,

I am an idiot, unfortunately for the world, I have a internet connection and a fondness for beer....apologies for that.

Thank you for you patience.
