Lio Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Hallo Just to say that im not lazy ive tried to read up on this in the manual but can't for the life of me figure it out. Can someone try and explain to me how you save markpoints and reload them again. I gather markpoints is how you save SPI's of interest to you. Say you could save up multiple SPI's and get back to em at a later time. Also the cords that the JTAC gives you can you punch those into your CDU as a mark point you can set as SPI? Any help is much appriciated. Ps. i remmeber doing it in DCS:BS using the PVI800 to great effect, something similer must be in the A10C or am i completly wrong.
Headspace Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 To save a markpoint into the CDU, you can create a flight plan and add them or add them to an existing flight plan as waypoints. To switch to using markpoints as steerpoints, you can switch the CDU knob to MARK. The PVI-800 is harder to use than the CDU, but the latter takes some getting used to.
159th_Viper Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 With TGP line-of-sight: TMS Right Short to create Mark-Point (A-Y). Will be displayed on TAD as A,B,C etc etc. With the AAP set to MARK you can cycle through Mark-Points on the TAD (SOI) by means of the UFC 'Steer' rocker switch. Alternatively with the DMS Up or Down with HUD as SOI. Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Click me to commence your Journey of Pillage and Plunder! Lio Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Can't i make it my SPI so i can slave maverick or TGP to the point? I really need help trying to get some situational awareness. Ive been trying out the Defend camp yankee mission. Oh my god its difficult to spot those 2 arty pices. I know where they are since i can spot em out the cockpit fireing. But trying to find then with the TGP is a nightmare. I wish i could zoom out much more then it can. Even with labels on i have to fly around them 5 times to spot them with the TGP. I hope it will be better when i can save some points so i can quickly locate a friendly or a point of reference. Atleast i found out the altitude option for the AP is a joy when circling above looking for targets.

So then why not slew the TGP LOS diamond on the HUD (with TGP as SOI) over the targets? Novice or Veteran looking for an alternative MP career? Lio Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Because if i get below 10k feet the AAA gets me :( The mission got AAA all over it. But anyway i found out how to make a mark. But cant i save it on a specific letter or can it only cycle through them when assigning.
Steve Davies Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Can't i make it my SPI so i can slave maverick or TGP to the point? Yes, just TMS RIGHT LONG once you have created the mark, or are in MARK mode on the CDU. It will make the MARK point the SPI. Steve Davies https://www.10percenttrue.com

If you want a unique, user-assigned identifier, it might be easier to make a new *waypoint* and then rename it using the CDU WPT page. Steve Davies https://www.10percenttrue.com
aaron886 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Yes, just TMS RIGHT LONG once you have created the mark, or are in MARK mode on the CDU. It will make the MARK point the SPI. I believe you mean TMS Forward Long, to make current sensor or hooked object SPI? (Kill me if I'm wrong. ;))
Steve Davies Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 No, it's TMS RIGHT LONG to make the MARK the SPI. TMS FORWARD LONG makes the current SOI the SPI (which won't work since the MARK point is not a sensor). Steve Davies https://www.10percenttrue.com
Arclight Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Good to know, that function isn't documented yet. Been getting around it by selecting the mark as a steerpoint and slaving the TGP to steerpoint. Just holding right might be easier. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] DCS A-10C: putting the 'art' into 'warthog'. (yes, corny. Sorry.)
Headspace Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Not my intent to spam or anything, but the guide I made to dropping JDAMs also explains how to save markpoints to the CDU. CDU specific stuff is about 3 minutes in. Pay attention to the left side of the CDU screen and what gets typed into the pad. 2
