StrongHarm Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 What's your favorite A-10 video? Here's a few I like: Military Channel CAS Vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szX45PdUOmo GruntEye View Compilation1 (low quality vid) Compilation2 (low quality vid) Airforce News Vid - A10 much sought by ground forces. (I'd like to give that boomer the boom boom) It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm
Callsign.Vega Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 The military channel called the A-10 a fighter aircraft. :suspect: GPU: RTX 4090 - 3,000 MHz core / 12,000 MHz VRAM. Deadman Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 The A-10C Warthog is called that by the USAF the A-10s are in Fighter wings I.E The 188th FW http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/188th_Fighter_Wing My vote is for the CAS vid https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.

Deadman Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Why would you bring that tragic incident up as a best vidio? It has got to be a real A-10 Pilots worst nightmare! https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
ARM505 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 (edited) ...but it, combined with the CAS video clearly shows the incredible pressure, and potential consequences of a dedicated CAS aircraft. It's a necessary reminder of what the A10's job is about - troops on the ground. The CAS video could easily have resulted in fratricide, and the skills and professionalism of the soldiers managed to lower the chance of that happening. There's no point glossing over or ignoring the deadly consequences of a mistake - it's easy for us to laugh off a blue-on-blue in the sim, but reality is a little harsher. I don't think we can attempt to pursue absolute realism without a little reality check of what this is all about. Of course DCS will sadly be unable to create quite such dynamic interaction with troops on the ground, but anyway... Edited October 13, 2010 by ARM505 1
Deadman Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 The CAS video demonstrates all of your points perfectly, the blue on blue tape was not in the choices. The a-10 pilots in the 2003 indent were flying A-10A models as far as I know from the 190th FS ANG. The second tape is from the A-10C model .both showing high work load even with the advanced targeting of the C. There is no point in bring up the tragic death of L/Cpl Matty Tudball to make any point. "There's no point glossing over or ignoring the deadly consequences of a mistake - it's easy for us to laugh off a blue-on-blue in the sim, but reality is a little harsher. I have not ignored the consequence of this incident , and i don't think the video was posted as a reality check. It seam that your giving the poster a very deep and insite full reason for posting the vidieo, perhapse he should state those reason for him self. I just think it is in bad taste to post this Video as a favorite. https://forum.dcs.world/topic/133818-deadmans-cockpit-base-plans/#comment-133824 CNCs and Laser engravers are great but they can't do squat with out a precise set of plans.
NotiA10 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 i watched the video in question several times in order to get a better understanding of what, why and how it happened. Nevertheless, and yes ARM505 you do have a very valid point there in regards to the reality check, but i don't think that an event like this, or better said a video of such an event should top the list. my 2 cents cheers, NotiA10 :pilotfly: NotiA10 CoolerMaster HAF RC-932 - Intel Core i7 950 - Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro - Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R - Kingston DDR3 6GB - Gigabyte Radeon HD 5870 EF 6 Edition - Western Digital 640GB SATA-III - CoolerMaster 700W - TrackIR Pro 4 - Saitek X52 - Saitek Rudder Pedals - Hotas Warthog
Lio Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I can't see why the friendly fire video can't be on a favorite list. The OP didn't specifiy favorite for what reasons? Learning? Fun? etc. In general videos involving a military aircraft in play equals dead people so how can any of those clips be favorites? Myself very much like the CAS video and the friendly fire one because of the insight it gives into the communication between controlers and the pilots. Not because i find it particuler fun knowing that people died in the making. 1
koyan Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 How come, such advanced technology (radio, laser, gps and what not) and still no way to identify friend or foe other than verbal identification? Maybe i'm simple thinking but what if all friendly troops would have a gps transmitter (coded) and send their position, the A10 picks it up and displays it on the hud? No more blue-blue errors.
power5 Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Hmm, lets hook up GPS to all our soldiers and demand the enemy does too. If we all play by the rules everything will turn out just great. Come on really? I am a fairly honest person, but have been known to cheat in some instances playing drinking games with friends. I am sure the terrorists will play 100% by the rules. The only way to get rid of blue on blue is to have no red at all. And that is not happening. StrongHarm Posted October 13, 2010 Author Posted October 13, 2010 Blue on blue incident. Part I LINK OMITTED Part II LINK OMITTED Arrowhead.. are you sick in the head? That's your favorite video? I don't believe it, I think you're some kind of hippy punk who's trolling our community's forums. If you do actually enjoy witnessing the worst day of several peoples lives, I can't imagine how dark your life could be. To those of you who flippantly comment that this video is enjoyable and should be accepted as readily as any other; you have been descensitized. You need to turn your television off as quickly as possible. As a disabled combat vet who was on both ends of potential friendly fire more than once, I would ask you to put your water bong down and try to imagine yourself in a situation where you're certain your life might end at any moment, you have an important job to do where if you don't act quickly and professionally friends will die, and during this time hours seem like minutes. You say that taking a life is taking a life, so what's the difference? Your life, honor (yes that's real), and duty all come to a screeching halt. You've just done to a countryman what you're giving the greatest sacrifice to prevent. Make no mistake child, war is equivilant to taking the life of an intruder in your home; you morn the act, but you celebrate the safety of those who could have been unjustly murdered by someone evil. This sim isn't about taking lives, it's about powerful and complex tools of justice. It's not about the nail that's being driven, it's about the beauty of the hammer. To anyone that derives satisfaction from this video; You have my hatred and contempt. Yes hatred. Quote me next time you do drugs with your loathsome friends who don't deserve the security your military affords them. Brag about the fact that you can cause good men to have bad emotions. Sticky Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 Sorry I have to go now. Yes its worse to kill your friend then killing your enemy. I still think you overreacted to his post since you had posted videos of people dying yourself. And you definately overreacted to my post by telling me to stfu. 1: There is a video section for videos. 2: Telling other forum members to stfu is against the forum rules. Sticky Posted October 13, 2010 Posted October 13, 2010 I apologize, you didnt do the "same thing" like I first wrote. You are right, friendly fire is much worse. I still think you overreacted and that what you posted (which is not as bad since its the enemy, ok, and you have no confirmed deaths) is also in bad taste. You DID post videos where humans are most likely being killed, and that makes your first angry post just strange and it does infact apply to yourself. Dont point your anger on me.
