Mirtma Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Yesterday I've installed Flaming Cliffs. I noticed that HUD and labels are jagged. I can't clearly see even missile type. Only when I zoom in HUD comes more readable. Only in new Su-25 HUD is OK. Before, in LockOn, Everything was clear and sharp. Any suggestions? Nate Dogg Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 I find this too, mainly because i have the view fairly zoomed out, but then i can't see they information i need on the radar/hud and the other things. Its an annoying problem but it is what it is i guess. U just need to zoom in a fair bit to see the info u want. cheers
Mirtma Posted May 18, 2005 Author Posted May 18, 2005 But in old LockOn there was no such problem.. Gigabyte Z490 Gaming X | i5 10600K@4700 | 32 Gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz | Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11G | MONITOR IIYAMA 24,5" LED LCD @ 1920 x 1080 | Windows 11 | Saitek X-55 Rhino | TrackIR 5 Pro
ThirdELTPoznan Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Are you zooming out when you start new mission or are you playing with defalut zoom? GROM- Grupa Reagowania Operacyjno Manewrowego
Mirtma Posted May 18, 2005 Author Posted May 18, 2005 Default zoom. When I get into mission, HUD is jagged. Hitman IF Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Yeah, I have the same problem. I'm playing at 1024x768 on a Geforce 6600 GT (Forceware 71.89). At both 2xAA and 2xQ AA I get a pretty badly rendered hud and radar display. Does anyone know if AA is the problem? I haven't tried turning it off yet. Is this working ok for people with different driver versions? ---SVBS squad is playing Lock On, ADF/TAW and Typhoon now at www.svbs.co.uk !---
SAM-Smasher Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Try increasing AA to x4 and AF to x8. that might solve your problem, just an idea though :) works fine on my Radeon. Mirtma Posted May 18, 2005 Author Posted May 18, 2005 I've tried without AA, with two different Omega drivers but no change. Only new Su-25 has good HUD (I haven't tried old one yet). Hitman IF Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 I've done a little testing of this with different AA settings in the F-15. These Jpegs don't show the problem in the HUD very well because of some blurring: you can see the problem best with the text in the weapons status panel (due to the increased contrast of the text relative to the background, the compression has blurred it less). I generally found that the problems got slightly worse as I increased AA. I tried AF, but that didn't seem to make much difference, as you can see. ---SVBS squad is playing Lock On, ADF/TAW and Typhoon now at www.svbs.co.uk !---
BuzzU Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Using no AA should make it worse. The easiest solution is to map buttons to zoom in and out. Buzz
SAM-Smasher Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 wow im stumped, I havent seen this problem before, only when I was using 2xAA and 2xAF with my last card I encountered that problem. Have you tried also upping the resolution, I have never played at 1024 x 768 so perhaps its a problem associated with that particular resolution? I dont know. Sorry I couldnt help. Hitman IF Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Yes, it does seem to be more of a problem in 1024 than other resolutions. I tried 1152 and that seemed better, then I tried 1280x960, and that was fine, as it should be. Seems to be a bug at 1024 though. The problem seems to be that the hud font they've chosen for 1.1 doesn't scale well enough to the number of available pixels at 1024. ---SVBS squad is playing Lock On, ADF/TAW and Typhoon now at www.svbs.co.uk !---
Dutch60 Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Sorry but I do not seem to have this problem? I am running at 1600x1200 32bit color 4xAA 8xAF i9 13900KS (H150i), RTX 4090, 64 GB RAM @ 6000 MHz CL30, TM Warthog HOTAS + MFD's, MFG Crosswind, LG 48GQ900, Valve Index VR, TrackIR 5, Win11 Pro x64
Mirtma Posted May 18, 2005 Author Posted May 18, 2005 Hm, with such configuration you have no problem to play in so high resolution. I have Athlon XP 3200+, 1024 DDR 333 Ram, Radeon 9600/256, Audigy 2 ZS... But (I repeat) I had sharp HUD in LockOn in 1024 x 768. Now I've tried 1280 x 960, but jagged HUD exists - and FPS are low (15-25) Gigabyte Z490 Gaming X | i5 10600K@4700 | 32 Gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz | Gigabyte Aorus GeForce GTX 1080 Ti 11G | MONITOR IIYAMA 24,5" LED LCD @ 1920 x 1080 | Windows 11 | Saitek X-55 Rhino | TrackIR 5 Pro
4cMungos Posted May 18, 2005 Posted May 18, 2005 Mirtma, did you try to use a different HUD color, I almost allways use red for day missions, default green HUD only works good in night missions for me. Lahko probaj crvenu ;). Lep pozdrav! 1 "Tko vrijedi leti, tko leti vrijedi, tko ne leti ne vrijedi." - Grunf von Grunt http://www.4c-squad.rs

Only when I zoom in HUD comes more readable. Only in new Su-25 HUD is OK. Before, in LockOn, Everything was clear and sharp. Any suggestions? Flaming Cliffs uses a different 'Angle of view (zoomed out)'. Lock On 1.02 used a default '60' Angle of view. This setting was used for all the planes. In FC 1.1 each plane has a different 'Angle of view' setting. The reason why the SU-25 HUD is clear because the 'Angle of view' for that plane is much closer than the others. You said it yourself when you zoom in the HUD becomes clear :). You can still configure the view to make it look like 1.02. Unfortunately this is no longer done in the OPTIONs menu. You will have to look at the snapviews.lua file to change the Angle of View for each plane. Take a look at these threads for some info. http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=7496&highlight=default+view http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=6684 1
Mirtma Posted May 18, 2005 Author Posted May 18, 2005 @ S77th-Paralyzer TNX. Much better now (still isn't same as LockOn but...). Those links helped. Mirtma Posted May 18, 2005 Author Posted May 18, 2005 @ Mungos Changing of HUD colour also helped. Pomaže ako promenim boju. Ali ipak nije isto kao prije... Hvala!
