Well I think is my time to change and contribute to ED. Soooo I am thinking in getting the beta and then getting the box and manual, cause Iam seeing that everyone is having a lot of fun with the beta :joystick:

So I just whant to make sure I am ok with my pc. I run BS in full high settings but here it is:

Window Vista Home Edition 64 bit

Processor is AMD Phenom X4 9500 Quad-Core Processor 2.20 Ghz

Memory (Ram) 8.00 GB DDR2

Video Card: Nvidia GeForce 9500 1gb or 512 (dont remember)

Hard Drive hmmm more than 500gb

CH FighterStick, CH Throttle and CH pedals.

Track IR 4

Sound hmmm the one that the pc bring .

Anyways thas what I got. So will I make it?

Love BlackShark but Iam more of a fixed wing pilot and I cant resist anymore. :pilotfly:.

<S> To all and Thank in advance.

The Nvidia 9500 might be a little bit lightweight, but as long as you tune down the graphics, you should be able to run it.

Isn't the old 8800 performing better than the 9500, or do I remember it incorrectly?

As for CPU, I'm not sure - but the DCS series is CPU intensive due to all the physics, perhaps someone else can comment on the CPU.

2.2GHz is not really fast, 512MB video card will do but you won't be able to run DCS A-10C with all high setings... it's much more intensive on graphics card and also bit more on the CPU compared to FC2 and BS.

PC specs:

Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

Yep, you really want to look at the second number for performance, at least with Nvidia.

I have an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.13 GHz, a Nvidia 9800M GS 512MB, and 4GB of RAM and it runs fine for me. Some lag spots, but I can only expect performance to go up when its more optimized. Large battles and campaign missions slow it down to zero which is sort of disappointing, but its beta.

Dont the quad core help a bit, sooo the only think I can upgrade right now is the video card will it this help a little?

"what type of card is good right now in market and not that expensive"

Anyways lets hope I can run the game with what I have if not Iam screwd, not so many budget and and first baby is on the way :D

So thankz again <S>

I get around 20FPS (little less in built up areas) with my old PC.

It has a 2 Ghz (Yes 2!!) 3 core athlon 3G ram and a Nvidia 9500GT and its fine. I really really do need to upgrade but as it stands it works ok atm.

Just a note with the Blackshark I get 35 to 40 FPS as its optimised and the A-10 is not. I say buy it as beta and learn the systems and wait until the proper release before you try the big battles. :megalol:

GTX 460

Seconded. Best value for money at the moment. Just make sure you get the 1GB one.

Got a Gigabyte one; custom cooler and factory OC for the price of regular one. Moved up from 8800GTS 512, definetly worth it.

This one runs as hot under load as the 8800 ran in idle. :D

On the matter of quad-core helping; to some extent. DCS really only uses 2 cores effectively, and games in general always place the heaviest load on 1 core and less on the others, so individual core speed is important, rather than number of cores.

My i7 930 @ 4ghz chugs with an overclocked gtx285. Like andy said, the beta is not about performance, it's about stability on various hardware platforms.

please DO NOT make buying decisions based on A-10 performance.

However tempting it may be with the next gen of AMD @ Nvidia GFX cards on their way for xmas ;)

Don't own the AC-10 yet, but KA 50 runs silk smooth on my QuadCore 8200 (2,33 Ghz), 4 GB Ram and Radeon 5770 - in 1920x1200 with max details. Since both titles are built on same engine, I expect similiar results from the Warthog, once it gets optimized. ED games are less demanding than FSX with a bunch of add-ons.

Aside of that, the human eye hardly recognizes any stutter beyond 24 fps. That's the framerate wherewith movies get produced.

Big difference between video and computer graphics. 30fps on PC can still look jerky. Ideally you'll want your games at 40-60fps.

Depends on the engine though. Ran Crysis pretty high on a 8800GTS, getting ~25fps. Looked smooth. Same deal with FSX. Most games though, there's a big difference between 25 and 30 or higher.

How long is this nonsense going to be repeated? Without fail, whenever the topic of frames per second in video games comes up someone trots out this mangy old pony. It's an urban legend that refuses to die....like Richard Gere's hamster.

Don't take offence, Tronjer, but seriously. Play a game at 60fps and then at 24fps and then remind yourself the "human eye hardly recognizes and stutter beyond 24fps".

There's a good reason movies can get away with only 24fps......

Well, just tested Black Shark. Delivers ~35 fps at outside view and I can't see any perceiveable stutter. No, I'm not blind, don't even need glasses yet.
