This post is intended for people that is part of squadrons like 169TH Panthers,

(Groups with allot of sim pilots preferably Strike and Fighter.).

I have never played multiplayer games over the Internet and have only played a sim over LAN once.

I am not a sim fan as much as a wargame fan. If it simulates real war I like it.

And this is where a great sim like Lo-mac comes in.

I don't know what guys actually do on co-op multiplayer missions so this might be completely off the mark.

But why doesn't someone turn Lo-mac into a war game.

Here is an example:

Firstly one or more persons are appointed as judges that are impartial and to set up these multiplayer missions.

The map is to be divided along the lines of the original in-game campaign.

To keep things simple no ground units, except anti-aircraft is used (This is not a prerequisite but it would greatly simplify things.).

In line with this aircraft in the game may be limited to only player flyable (Not a prerequisite.).

The purpose of the campaign can the be laid down. Like for instance the destruction of your opponent's airbases and/or aircraft on the ground or in the air.

Here the judges can be used so that if aircraft are not flying, a certain percentage of them must be parked around the airfield (Like for instance, one out of every four that is not flying in the particular session must be added as ground objects around the airfield.).

It can be agreed that aircraft might be dispersed or parked next to each other.

Next the number of units for each side can be decided upon. This includes flyable aircraft, anti-aircraft units, non-flyable aircraft etc.

For instance if you have six A10 pilots in your squadron your side might be limited to only twelve A10s

(Also with this, who is going to be on which side of course!).

The rules of the war game can be decided on, like if you are downed over enemy's airspace and you eject you are automatically captured and are out of the rest of the campaign. Or if a airbase is destroyed it is out of the campaign and all the aircraft at that base is automatically moved to another. And if you are killed you are out.

Another important reason to have judges is so that each side can generate preplanned strike packages without them (each side) knowing of each other. (The judges will put them into the multiplayer mission. This is very important for placing anti-aircraft units and non flyable aircraft.). Also I would suggest that no AWACS aircraft is used by either side because the number of aircraft used by both sides will inevitably be so few that if no sneaking about can be used the attrition rate might be way to high.

The game can be limited to one mission every weekend (What ever is the best for the combatants.).

The big idea behind this is to have a war game where each side can destroy the other side's assets to the point

where one side will win.

People already fly co-op missions so the idea here is to link them together and this way turning Lo-mac into a dynamic campaign! So everything boils down to this, two teams fly co-op missions against each other where a certain amount of assets have been decided on for both sides, as well as adhering to certain predefined rules.

At the end of each mission everyone records what assets remain for both sides. Missions are to be planned accordingly and bingo, you have a make-shift dynamic campaign.

This concept will probably work best for large groups that fly together over LAN connections. I think if people ever try this they should try to keep things as simple as possible at first because managing this war game would increase in difficulty the more units you ad. This will also slow down computers.

Rules should also aim to simplify and not complicate the war game. For instance, if an airbase is knocked out (The runway have been cratered) will all the aircraft “stationed” there be out of the campaign or will they be magically transfered to another airbase?

English is not my native language, so I hope every one can discern what I am trying to say here.

I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

nice idea..Sure thing. It's gonna be exactly the same as the original board game. We're also planning to add armies/rules/maps from expansions in the next releases..

Hi Zombie,

=4c= squad have done exactly what you are describing. It was called Nuclues. It was a dynamic campaign where the next mission depended on results from the previous mission. A man who manually created each mission is a fighter pilot. Author of several books about civil and military aviation.

Missions were designed to put the FC to limits due to inclusion of AI air, ground and sea units.
