Kuky Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 Last night I found out this is very much possible, so today I went out and bought a Displayport-to-DVI Converter and I am now running all 3 monitors off HD5870... no need for secondary video card now 24" main monitor connected to Displayport via this adapter 2x 8" secondary monitors connected to DVI ports via DVI-VGA adapter But, beware not any Displayport-to-DVI converter will do... it has to be Active converter (taking power from the video card Displayport or from USB port) PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
ED Team Groove Posted November 5, 2010 ED Team Posted November 5, 2010 Hi, im using this setup now for like three months. You don't need a active converter. At least mine 5870 uses a 35 Euro passive converter made by HP. It converts from DP -> VGA. My actual setup is: Main: 24" via HDMI plus one 19" on DP and one 19" on VGA. Im striving for 3 x 24" setup though, that's why i have 2x5870 right now. 1 Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
Kuky Posted November 5, 2010 Author Posted November 5, 2010 Interesting... for me non active converter did not work so I had to buy active one and it works. 1 PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
CyBerkut Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 The situation on adapters for this has been evolving, making it even harder to get to the truth of the matter. Succellus Posted November 9, 2010 Posted November 9, 2010 What i wonder in multi monitoring is how zoomed if any is used you do to get near a "real" HUD size. Or you let it as it comes and use the 3 monitirs side by side. In much situations in sims the real problem isn t lateral periperical vision, but more a vertical limitation, since usualy you are in pursuit or adjusting a dive. Does any of you use 3 monitor in vertical position ? HaF 922, Asus rampage extreme 3 gene, I7 950 with Noctua D14, MSI gtx 460 hawk, G skill 1600 8gb, 1.5 giga samsung HD. Passive DVI/HDMI adapters will not work. I'm currently running 6 monitors off one eyefinity edition running 4 of the monitors off VGA adapters.
