tflash Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 I miss two important steps in Wags JTAC LGB example: 1) At 1:51 when you have received the 9-line data message, Wags goes to the msg page and then does what? 2) At 2:04 Wags presses OSB 19 on the left MSD. What for? And what is he doing until 2:25? My problem is I cannot get the SPI marked. Is there something I have to do when I have received the message to get this SPI? (The rest is OK, once I am in right direction I go to LSS etc., that works for me, only I do not have the handy SPI.) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Frogfoot1606687865 Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 1) At 1:51 when you have received the 9-line data message, Wags goes to the msg page and then does what? I think he is just demonstrating that the 9-line is listed as a message. 2) At 2:04 Wags presses OSB 19 on the left MSD. What for? And what is he doing until 2:25? He is pressing WILCO to accept the tasking, if for some reason he felt he couldn't perform the attack he would press CNCO. My problem is I cannot get the SPI marked. Is there something I have to do when I have received the message to get this SPI? He is making the TAD SOI and then pressing China hat Fww short to zoom into the TAD, then scrolling the display to get the little red triangle (target) under the cursor, then TMS FWD short to hook the red triangle, then TMS FWD LONG to make the hook SPI Hope this helps Tom Windows 10 Pro 64bit, Gigabyte EX58-UD5, Intel i7 920 Corsair H70 water cooled @4GHz), Corsair XMS3 12GB (6x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel, Nvidia GTX780, OCZ Vertex 256GB SSD (for OS+DCS), TrackIR 5, TM Warthog HOTAS + Saitek Rudder
Frederf Posted November 11, 2010 Posted November 11, 2010 Presses the TAD "Wilco" OSB, presumably a datalink function with JTAC. Expands the TAD to EXP1 then EXP2 While slewing cursor to red DL SPI from JTAC (I assume) TMS-Up to Hook this SPI and TMS-Up-Long to make TAD-PI SPI TGP page then coolie right long to make SOI Slaves TGP to SPI Blows some stuff up. The JTAC must be present on the datalink net to use these automated features. I'm guessing at the process of seeing the TAD red pyramid to getting it set as ownship SPI.
skouras Posted November 12, 2010 Posted November 12, 2010 lets hope that all this is included in some training missions [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]W10(64bit)Asus Rog Strix Z370-F - i7 8700K - Dark Rock Pro 4 - 16 giga ram Corsair vengeance 3000 - MSI RTX 2070 Super - Asus Rog Phobeus soundcard - Z906 Surround speaker - Track ir5 - HOTAS Warthog

tflash Posted November 12, 2010 Author Posted November 12, 2010 It works perfect for me now; many many thanks for this mini-tutorial guys!!! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
tflash Posted November 14, 2010 Author Posted November 14, 2010 I must say that JTAC is as transformational to the game as Litening II is to the A-10. It is just incredible, now that someone finally holds a conversation with you while playing (single player I mean). I just love it when you get the "re-attack authorized" etc. Made a few missions with a TIC situation involving where you are invited to unleash your gun on enemy elements marked with a williepete. Awesome!!! (And earned me a Bronze Star BTW!) This "Beta" is about the best game I ever played, seriously! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
CrashEd Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 I completely agree, the JTAC missions are phenomenal. Does. Anyone know if the LGB mission, mentioned above, is included in the latest beta?
Frederf Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Just wait till you have someone playing JTAC in the flesh in multiplayer. It's just giddy!
tflash Posted November 15, 2010 Author Posted November 15, 2010 I completely agree, the JTAC missions are phenomenal. Does. Anyone know if the LGB mission, mentioned above, is included in the latest beta? Yes, in the ME editor you can order setup your JTAC to ask for guided weapons (advanced settings); you should also load GBU's of course. In the unfolding dialog you can then ask the JTAC to lase the target. You should put your TGP in LSS mode, so that it scans for a laser spot. It is really a nice feature. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Yeah, I've managed to 'hack' into some of the included missions and deploy different weapons, however my ME skills are somewhat lacking! I was hoping for a different scenario whereby I can practice JTAC comms. Getting bored of the few JTAC missions that I do have, but don't really have the time to sit diwn and create my own :( Need some different targets! :D
nomdeplume Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 I'd recommend getting to grips with the editor, it's ridiculously easy to quickly put together different scenarios with it. Here's two very creatively named missions you can try. 'New Mission.miz' - a strange scenario indeed! Three JTACs are defined, Axeman on 124 MHz will direct you to engage a convoy of lightly armoured vehicles moving towards its own position. Chevy (on 300 MHz) is a predator drone that will direct you to engage anything it sees - it always picks a column of tanks as its target, which happens to be surrounded by Tunguskas. An AI A-10 will loiter at your IP and await your command (in the Other radio menu) to begin an attack, it's up to you how you want to manage him. You'll probably want to change your loadout - I've been experimenting with visual delivery of CBUs against moving targets (with not much success) so there's no TGP. The convoy starts moving immediately so try to get airborne quickly. The tanks start moving after some damage has been dealt to the convoy, IIRC. test.miz - job is to destroy 3 insurgent T-50s near a village in the mountains. You have a JTAC to guide you. Can also call on some Georgian choppers to mop up once you're done. Very light air defences. Dumb bombing seems a bit tricky in mountainous terrain, but maybe it's just me. I think my current loadout in this mission has some LGBs, but again, you're free to select whatever you want to practice with. P.S. there's no useful briefing info or images, so you'll want to open these in the editor so you can see your flight plan.test.mizNew Mission.miz
ravenone Posted November 16, 2010 Posted November 16, 2010 You guys are awesome! I am just getting some stability at placing Mavs on :joystick: badguys, as you cats are using JTAC/LGB (gobbly-gook) for Kills  ...BYW: I keep forgetting this is "beta" when I fly... I salute (IRL) ED as well as you Pilots. ~Rave [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Windows 10 (64) - AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core - 32 GB RAM - RTX 2080 Super

Hopefully I'll get some time to spend on the ME soon. What little time I do have I've been using to concentrate on weapon deployment and other systems. I'm getting pretty proficient in most areas, so hopefully I'll be able to concentrate on the ME next. Will let you know how I get on with the missions.
tflash Posted November 16, 2010 Author Posted November 16, 2010 Two more very simple missions Very quick missions, starting in the air. You can start right away by contacting the JTAC. I must say there is some workload, so try to use autopilot/LASTE smartly. One mission has laser marking / LGB the other is for WP marking / rocketsFT A-10 crush column GBU P.mizFT A-10 crush column troops.miz [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

A "start right away" mission for jtac practice would be a godsend. Yes I own both DCS simulations but cant be assed figuring out how to place those fancy pictures here. I also own a computer with several parts in it!
