Callsign.Vega Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Can anyone tell me how to reset the default cockpit zoom level? I jump into the sim with my head "view" slammed against the APU fire T-handle. Why would they set the view like this? On another note, is everyones Track IR working fine? In A-10C mine sometimes freaks out starts spinning even though my head isn't moving. GPU: RTX 4090 - 3,000 MHz core / 12,000 MHz VRAM. Run TrackIR's control panel and make sure that everything looks ok there, especially the IR reception; no erroneous emissions coming from behind your head, like a light, etc... If that all checks out, make sure your TrackIR profile is not too severe in its axis definitions. Mad Dog 7.62 Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 I had a lot of problems with my Track IR. In fact I have never really gotten used to it and haven't used it much. Since A-10C came out I have been trying it more and found several things that help. First, I downloaded the v5 software instead of the 4 I was using (I have a Track IR 4) and its better. I used the profile Wags posted as a starting point, cranked up the smoothing a bit, and assigned the center and pause functions to unused positions on my Warthog....I used the UP on the mic button for center, and the push function on the mic button for pause. I am much happier with Track IR now. My mouse does this at times as well. It may be time for a newer mouse for me though. Its over 5 years old and just a cheapy 3 button kensington. leafer Posted November 14, 2010 Posted November 14, 2010 Callsign. Vega, Are you on beta 1 or 2 because beta 2 default view is the same as Black Shark. Quite nice. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
StrongHarm Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 From KA50 post: *slew the desired view and zoom (back to how original default looked) *hit Ralt+0 *hit F1 It's a good thing that this is Early Access and we've all volunteered to help test and enhance this work in progress... despite the frustrations inherent in the task with even the simplest of software... otherwise people might not understand that this incredibly complex unfinished module is unfinished. /light-hearted sarcasm

I got it in the mail on Friday and spent all Friday night and Saturday trying to calibrate it. I kept getting weird jerks and spins. I thought OH NO!!! What a waste of cash! I finally zoomed in on the Camera view and noticed I had red dots. I was getting a reflection from a poster that is hung directly in line with my monitor. I also found that smoking a cigarette will cause it to go hay wire. I grabbed Matt's profile and spent hours playing around with the software and I tell ya fellas.....BEST 140 bucks I ever spent......well after DCS:WH that is! It takes a lot of getting used too, but once you get the movement down there is no going back. After 20 years of flight sims I no longer have to use that damn hat switch....and it only took two days for my thumb to stop looking for it. Was up until 4 am this Sunday morning flying around in awe. A total must for flight sims I tell ya!
Frederf Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Track Clip Pro. Set the threshold for IR on the TIR software to maximum and it still picks up the active IR emitters clear as day. Reflections will compete with reflections. Active IR emitting on the clip means that you can turn off the IR floods on the device and just go passive camera. Back to post #1, it sounds like you've having a problem with head position not zoom. The default head position is pretty good in beta2 if you're at it. If you're using TrackIR recenter and it'll go back to the default head position/angle. As for zoom, there is no zoom bound by default even with TrackIR. I put zoom on a rotary wheel for fun but my TIR is as per default Z position = Z position.
DEWorley Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 is there a way to use the trackir z as zoom & use a rotary as translation in the z axis?
Frederf Posted November 15, 2010 Posted November 15, 2010 Sure, look on the axes controls sub-page of the options. You can bind the TrackIR axes as you like. There's also a joystick-axis-able zoom axis assignment right nearby.
Invisibull Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 I assigned the Z axis on my TrackIr 5 to the in game zoom axis under controls and it doesn't seem to do anything. It works fine in the Trackir software, as do all the others axes. Frederf Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 The bottom axis command "Zoom View" in the column for the TrackIR controller? Check your work by highlighting that box and pressing the "Tune Axis" button.
Invisibull Posted November 27, 2010 Posted November 27, 2010 Frederf: Thanks, it's sorted. Silly me had for some reason unchecked the Z axis in the trackir calibration screen. i9 9900k - GTX 2080 Ti - MSI Z87 GD65 Mobo - 64GB HyperX Predator RGB DDR4 3200MHz - Win10 64 bit - TM Warthog w FSSB R3 mod - TrackIr 5.
DEWorley Posted November 28, 2010 Posted November 28, 2010 got it thanks, i finally realized you could click on the box & select the trackir axis
