hello everybody. I just registered. I'm Kite from Italy . User of falcon af and now ka50 fan bought 2 mounths ago.

my compliment to all dcs developers, really unbelivable sim!

I have some question I hope someone can help.

yesterday I had to disconnect completely the pc to connect new monitor.

turn on the computer check for track ir if functioning... Not working. Ok wrong usb port... Insert in the correct one and have it working. Then I launched multiplayer ka50 and it gave me a new activation code (6 left) . What happen? Do I have to deactivate the old key ?

anther question is for frame rate. I have a intel dualcore 2.8ghz with nvidia gforce9800gt . Resolution 1650-1050 cockpit RES 1024 and detail medium. Blur on ( I love this effect).

I' m flying at an average frame rate of 10!!

Is there something I have to set with nvidia or pc ? Some trick to do or it is normal ? I have updated the sim with the last patch.

I have the register full of things . Smehing like 50 process open in the task manager at start up of win xp. Reduce this process could help?

last last last thing is.. I know there are illumination rocket ( I remember s80-m??) that I found in the encyclopedia but not in the payload in misson editor. Have these rockets another name?

thank you

Kite

Welcome to the forum! :)

Reference your frame rate, you should be getting much more than that. I have a Core 2 Duo also running at 2.8GHz. My resloution, scenes and shadows are on high, visible range medium. I don't use the blur and have water on the lowest setting and I have a good frame rate with v-sync on. I detest stutter and not usually content to play at anything less than a steady 30fps.

The water causes a lot of slow down. Apart from that all I can suggest is the usuall stuff; close all background applications and make sure you have no spyware or viruses causing problems. And don't forget to check you have the latest driver for your graphics card... now 260.99

PS. Also I have my resolution set at 1920x1200 so again, I'm not sure why your frame rate is suffering so much.

Most certainly. For comparison, my XP has 25 running processes on startup, you got 50!! :helpsmilie: All this probably mostly useless stuff is eating away precious CPU cycles.

A format sounds like a good idea. If the hardware stays the same you should not need to use another activation, but just to be on the safe side I would deactivate the sim, format and then reactivate again.

Hi Kite,

The illumination rockets should be called S-80M, if I remember correctly and are available for the Ka-50 with patch 1.02.

To your FPS: Black Shark and XP does not utilize your cores as Vista 64bit or Win7 does, so you will find a limitation there. BlackShark is most demanding on your CPU, so try to keep your CPU load for other software as low as possible.

Set Water=1 in your *lua, (sorry cannot give you the direct name) furthermore I recomment to set down a few graphic gimmics, disable civ traffic, but if you search the forum you will find a lot of hint to tweak your system.

Good luck with that.

I for example have a Quad Core Q9445 2,6Ghz, 4 GBRam, Vista64bit, ATI 4850 1GBRam, 1066FSB and have on a map without action between 40-50FPS, with medium texture details, high visibility range, water=1, blur on, civ traffic off and a solution of 1280X1024.

Thank you . I will try first in a big format or clean start up. If not working i will go for Vista.

For the activation code what you think was happened? unplugging the pc and re-plugging al devices can give a different config to BS and this is creating a new activation code?

Why old-fashioned Vista?

Go for Win7! That's the future. :smilewink:

Unplugging will not change the config 'enough' for making a new activation code neccessary. But it's always a wise idea, when changing Hardware or makeing a complete re-install (OS, Game) to de-activate the game first.

Absolutely, just get proceXP and close everything with your username on it, not trackIR, and internet of course..

Turn down your cockpit display resolution. I have mine set at 512. Your card has to render the shkval in real time same as the main view. So effectively its rendering 1050 and 1024 at the same time, I believe.

From my recent tests...

Cockpit displays performance test

- the real choice is only between 1024 and 1024 every frame ; average performance difference ~ 11 %

Shadows performance test - Active planar vs Full

A note: A relative difference of 200 on the graph means 20% performance hit for Full shadows.

Conclusions:

...

- full shadows do cause a significant performance hit of about 15% of average FPS

- for big cities with lots of buildings the hit increases to about 25 %

Wow, bucic. What are your system specs? How did you benchmark?

Guess I am going to turn up my monitors in cockpit. How does the scenes affect performance? I already use planar shadows.
