Guest MeJoe Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 I am only a couple of weeks old with Lock-On and two days old with Flaming Cliffs. Last night was my first time online via HyperLobby. I hate to brag but I must say my performance greatly exceeded my expectations. Not only did I manage to actually survive for a full 13 minutes but also (with EOS) I actually found, locked on to and tracked a target for about 4 minutes before my RWR started screeming and the lights went out! All in all a very satisfying expierence for a new guy who did not expect to clear the end of the runway before eating a sidewinder. My goal for tonight is to live a full 15 minutes and maby even get a shot off before being vaporized. If that works then tomorrow I will try to actually hit something. Hope Springs Eternal Life is good. One thing surprised me. I would have expected that Voice Comm programs like "Teamspeak" would have been widely used but there seemed to be none of this. Do many people use Teamspeak or other such voice comm program? Any hints to help me live longer?
DarkStar Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 Some servers has a TS option, the adress is either written in the briefing or in the join window at Hyperlobby. You'll see that most squadrons use TS :)
Guest ruggbutt Posted May 28, 2005 Posted May 28, 2005 We use ventrilo, sound quality is superior to TS.
SUBS17 Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Ventrillo is much better I think, TS sometimes has stuturing which may sound funny but is unusable to me. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
Rastus Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Wether you use TS or Vent, Lockon (online) is very much a team sport, using comms makes a huge difference to the gameplay and immersion factor. I suggest you download both programs and set them up. Dont forget to set up key activation, instead of voice activate. Most squads have a link to their comms on their homepages. I like my USB headset as it allows you to seperate game sounds & communications. Welcome to the lockon community & will see (& hear) you online soon. Cheers Rastus
S77th-konkussion Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 Hey Joe- I saw you in there (S77th server). There is a public TS channel up for red & blue to use. Chances are that if any S77th pilots are in there we are on our private TS channel. [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
W-Natas Posted May 29, 2005 Posted May 29, 2005 We use ventrilo, sound quality is superior to TS. Hmm but when i use Ventrilo i got o lot of sound bugs in Lock On. This message was sponsored by "askingstupidquestions.com" in cooparation with "icantfly.de".
