Brilliant mission, Grimes, you really got under the hood of this ME and tuned it!

I couldn't find the ammo dump, wah. I'm pretty sure I inputed the L/L coordinates properly, I even did it twice, coming up with exactly the same location. I know it's heavily camouflaged but my SPI appeared to be nothing but a forested crest. I took a look at it in the ME; my SPI was approximately correct but when I ran the cursor over the location, the coordinate readout was a little diffferent than that given by AWACS. Might there be a discrepancy?

A forest was planted where it was previously located between beta 4 and final release. So I moved it a little bit and but didn't change the coordinates. I figured the coordinates and the target were close enough that a little searching wouldn't hurt.

Hmm, well I searched and searched...if I get it again I had better find it, or I won't receive another target, right?

One more thing: In the SP version my wingman accompanies me but will not respond to comms on the default UHF freq. Is there a flight freq that I've missed?

OK, well, I found the ammo dump this time, got a better picture in the TGP from 24,000ft, blew it up with a GBU-12. Then things got funky; some trigger misfired and I started getting messages about kittens! The mission spawned no more tasks so I took my toys and flew home. Will try it again soon.

FWIW, through trial and error I found flight comms on 255.00 UHF.

I know that specific task isn't screwed up as we completed it the other night without problems. The only explanation I can think of is if a task wasn't assigned and its targets get destroyed, the mission tends to freak out a bit. I don't know if that was the case for you, but its a new issue I've discovered.

Hmm, I got the ammo depot as my first task, just before WP 1, as usual, so I entered the coordinates and destroyed the target. However, I received no acknowledgement of the success of the attack and no follow-on tasks, just those funny error messages, as I mentioned. This did not occur the other day when it gave me the house as my first bombing assignment. Let me repeat, though: superb mission.

We flew it last night and got an IR Shorad task. Searched nearby and found one strela which was eliminated with a GBU no problem. No other targets of any kind could be found anywhere else in the area but we never got another task.. Flew down thru the area to try and draw fire for my wingman to key on, but nothing was down there.. Skimmed the deck around that town for some time and nothing. Finally we left to go find the tanker downrange and before we got there, the mission and my DCS crashed. Just letting you know what I ran into.. Great mission so far.. is there some way to force the next task to spawn out for situations like this ??

please... please... please... let the next DCS module be an F-18 fighter aircraft :worthy:

Humm, I'll try to look at it as soon as I can. I'm sorta in "super afk mode" at the moment, (and for the foreseeable future) so a quick fix is unlikely. However for the most part I haven't experienced "game breaking" issues within v5. I suppose if they do exist, think of it as a "uneventful day" and experience what most CAS aircraft in support of nato operations as a typical day. :D

FYI there is a radio menu option that is supposed to spawn a new task. However if the entire mission gets screwed up I doubt the trigger will work as it should since it kinda relies on the mission not being screwed up.

I had a blast last night with this mission until I got up to get a fresh beer and got my headset cable caught on my foot and ripped them from the pc snapping all the wires.

Great new technique for dynamic mission targets though.

45 mins of soldering later and headphones fixed! looking forward to trying the mission again. Go TUSK!!! Go Grimes!

I must admit your Mission is fantastic fun!! Its a really good way to learn to create Marks/WPs and hunt for targets instead of being told exactly where they are all the time =) I got a mission to take out a taskforce and went ahead and made the new Mission WP and took me 10 mins to find it was a mobile convoy on the road. (I was looking for a fix target cause im a noob:megalol:) Anyway I took out the AAA and prosecuted the remaining 5 tagets and went to get fuel. I would have continued but it was time for sleepies:joystick:.

Anyway thanks for a great mission.

Since we just got a major patch, I'm going to update the mission to version 6 and make sure it works with the latest version of the sim (1.1.1.0). I already shaved 0.5 mb off the file size by changing the audio codec and I will implement the latest version of Speed's slmod into the mission. Not sure what else is going to change. So if there have been issues with the mission speak up so I can investigate and fix.

I initially wanted to add Ka-50 slots to the mission, but the more I thought about it, I realized the mission isn't really meant for Ka-50s to participate in a meaningful way. However, I can add additional A-10C slots if desired pretty easily.

The other feature I've considered implementing is a logic setup I made for another WIP mission that keeps track of player airframes. Effectively it would add failure condition to the mission if enough player aircraft were damaged or lost.

I really look forward to version 6! I have spent many hours with my mates flying this mission and I look forward to flying many more with the updated version and new patch.

Thanks for your hard work and keep it up!

Oh sorry I forgot to mention in my other post, but when I've been hosting this mission and running the latest 1.1.1.0, I get a message saying "tasking complete" as soon as the mission starts.

Also, for one of the tasks to destroy a SAM threat (it may have been at co-ordinate N42 34 000, E043 17 000, but can't be 100% certain) we could not find the blighter anywhere. We searched for quite some before one pilot volunteered to fly low over the general area, only to find that the 1 SAM unit was a few miles away from the co-ordinate position. I wasn't sure if this was intended to give players a challenge or whether the unit should really be a little closer.

Finally, it is not possible to access the radio menu to spawn a new task or get a mission update. I guess this is most likely to be fixed in the next version anyway, but I thought I should mention it...just in case!

Hope this helps!

No worries. The tasking complete message will be fixed.

The SAM threat you mentioned is the TOR mission. It had some issues in v5 due to the random unit location triggers I used. Its now stationary, but you should be able to find it given that it locks you up with radar.

With the radio menu, its a single player vs multiplayer issue. In SP or as the host in MP you should be able to access the radio menu to set it anyways. I'll verify its working as should, and will make a trigger for server hosts to edit to change the different settings easily.

Changelog so far

-replaced legacy ChatIO scripts with slmod

-Fixed assorted sound issues and changed file format to decrease file size

-adjusted TOR mission spawning

-Added 8 additional A-10C client aircraft (Tusk flight now flies out of Batumi and new "Boar Flight" out of Vaziani

-Added replacement KC-135 just in case of a mid-air mishap

Opted not to implement the failure condition triggers. But I think I'm going to put those "armed buildings" to good use in additional tasks.

As the MP Host, I always used to be able to access the radio menu, but since 1.1.1.0, it has disappeared.

But thank you for the changelog and for taking the time to update, I know that myself and a few others are really looking forward to playing this mission online again! :)

A few friends and I have played this mission and really enjoy it. Any chance of this getting updated to 1.1.1.1?

One issue we've had repeatedly is that once you find and kill the Shorad in town the mission scripting halts. There must be a trigger which is broken.

Thats the plan, I was hoping for a game update to come out to fix the JTAC stuff. Once I verify everything works as it should with 1.1.1.1 I'll release version 6.

I've uploaded v6 to the ED file site. You can get it there or hosted from my dropbox. On Station 6 (co-op)

Changelog for Version 6

-Added additional task type for destroying armed buildings. Player must contact JTAC to get location of buildings.

-replaced legacy ChatIO scripts with slmod

-Fixed assorted sound issues and changed file format to decrease file size (reduced by about 0.7mb)

-adjusted TOR mission spawning

-Added 8 additional A-10C client aircraft (Tusk flight now flies out of Batumi and new "Boar Flight" out of Vaziani

-Added replacement KC-135 just in case of a mid-air mishap

-Fixed known bugs causing tasks to not spawn or be completed

Versions released

Windy Winter: A partly cloudy windy and cold winter mourning

Spring Dawn: Early mourning with fog and a heavy cloud base in areas

Summers Night: A mostly clear night

Fall Clouds: A dreary cloudy day in the fall

The 3Sqn Dedicated Server will be hosting all 4 versions of the mission.

Hopefully the mission will stay functional through additional patches.

As stated in a previous post, No Ka-50s were added to this mission. They just don't fit with the long flight distances. However one of the reasons I added the 8x A-10C was so they could be easily changed to Ka-50s if someone wanted to. There are a few farps scattered throughout the map, which the enemy don't really go near, so it is feasible to add Ka-50s in.

I think its time to finish one of those other missions I've been toying with... :music_whistling:

HI GRIMES , i've played the mission on a pubblic server but something doesn't work immediately with tgt 1 (suspicious person) as my scrrenshot confirm so jtac was not available and find the person was impossible. Can you confirm?

hosting on dedi server with servman and slmod installed

Had a problem with 'suspicious person' ..though no error message initially

i did a low flyby over the city...never got jtac appearing on F4 or F10 menu (i was tuned to 33FM) to confirm the target. I could see two humvees sitting out of town, presumably the jtac...and scanned around for 1/2hr or so but didnt see anyone suspicious.

we also had the Shorad mission tasked at the same time (it was actually tasked before the suspicious person task) and a few people hunting for those elements. just before i returned to vaziani...had a big error come up in chat window saying something along the lines of:

"this trigger created by lowest bidder

Message #2

Failed to clear flag 23"

First of all, thank you for taking the time to update this mission Grimes  I have been keeping a keen eye on this thread.

I have tested this mission out earlier today and I also had the problem with "Show of Force 1" area JTAC Badger not available on VHF FM 30. The trigger area worked correctly, but I believe the 2 Humvees did not move to their WP1 position and therefore meant they were not "switched on" as JTAC.

I also noticed that the Badger JTAC were in an "off road" position in the mission editor whereas all the other JTAC's are placed "on road".

I can't be100% sure that these factors are the reason why you cannot contact Badger JTAC, but they are just things that I happened to notice and I hope it helps towards resolving the issue.

Thanks again Grimes!

It wouldnt be an On Station release if I missed one minor detail. ^_^ Thanks for the bug reports guys.

I forgot to set a flag to false on one of the JTAC tasks, which caused that error message to display.

Also for JTAC I had changed the designation from Auto to WP without actually testing it, assuming it would still work. It didn't. I've changed it back to Auto and it is confirmed working.

yep, the JTAC responds now.

he assigned 'bunkers' which looked more like a residential house, which amongst the city caused uncertainty about engaging.

also called 'abort abort abort' after each engagement, but it might have also been due to the person engaging not following the jtacs requested attack headings.

EDIT:

still getting that same error message popping up in the new version of mission...during convoy hunt tasking

Edited by chokko

Do you know which convoy task caused the issue? Coordinates, what was in the convoy, how many players are in the server, how many tasks were played before this occurred?

Ive looked through all of the triggers associated with convoy tasks and I can't find anything wrong like I did with the previous reporting of the issue. So I'm starting to think it might be more of a general message system issue not tied down to a specific task. Honestly, just keep playing the mission so see if other tasks are causing the issue or not.
