menendezdiego Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Can somebody please explain to me how I would go about making a tight 4 ship formation of F-15E's? I am able to make a flight of 4, but they are so spread out Regards, Diego
kylania Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Supposed to be like this I think: I had really random luck with that though, sometimes they'd get in a rough formation, but usually two of them would be totally retarded and flying on somewhere else. Best was when I said Line Abreast and three of them formed a large vertical diamond and the forth was afterburning around under them all flapping it's speedbrake like a fish out of water. Mad Dog 7.62 Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I have been trying to figure the same thing out...wanted to make a 2 ship of F-15's make a low pass over the ramp to add some "atmosphere" during the start up time. Seems they want to stay in a combat spread with quite a distance between them. Not sure how to tighten up the formations. 104th_Crunch Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Sorry for not giving any advice here, but those extra options in the mission editor are awesome! Can't wait to try them out when we have a DCS fighter to fly someday.
menendezdiego Posted November 30, 2010 Author Posted November 30, 2010 thanks for the replies. I messed with the action/task, but don't know how to assign it once in mission. I can't seem to communicate with other aircraft unless they're an A-10C
menendezdiego Posted December 2, 2010 Author Posted December 2, 2010 Anyone? I've seen photos of close formation with multiple AI aircraft in formation
Druid_ Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 Anyone? I've seen photos of close formation with multiple AI aircraft in formation Like my tanker training mission? You have to place each aircraft as a seperate unit. Each with its own set of waypoints. Use the ruler in the ME to space them out correctly and make sure they are all set to the same height and speed. Only works in a straight line, placing subsequent waypoints which involves turns will muck up your formation. Unit Groups do not have a close formation option. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q

menendezdiego Posted December 3, 2010 Author Posted December 3, 2010 thanks for the mission I cannot however get to talking to the tanker, she simply won't respond
Crosser Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Are you tuning your radio (left hand side under throttle) to the correct frequencies-150? I believe default reads 110.
Grimes Posted December 3, 2010 Posted December 3, 2010 Use finger 4 if you want them to be in close formation. The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world. Druid_ Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 Make sure you select AM (and not FM) also. Freq is 131.0 AM if I remember correctly. Stoppped messing with it since beta2, so it could be a beta3 problem. i7-7700K : 16Gb DDR4 2800 Mhz : Asus Mobo : 2TB HDD : Intel 520 SSD 240gb : RTX 2080ti: Win10 64pro : Dx10 : TrackiR4 : TM Warthog : ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q
menendezdiego Posted December 4, 2010 Author Posted December 4, 2010 Thanks for all the responses. Will try switching to AM Regards, Diego

The AI never fly as low as you set them in the editor and do weird roller coaster maneuver if you set them to fly a low and slow flight. ED have been taking my money since 1995. :P
menendezdiego Posted December 4, 2010 Author Posted December 4, 2010 Well trying AM/FM 150, 131...no joy I find that I have to contact ATC, then talk to the tanker. After that all works fine Many thanks, Diego
