Sharkster64 Posted December 5, 2010 Posted December 5, 2010 (edited) Well after looking at Tagges simpit, it gave me inspiration for my own. Here is a work in progress. I have a widescreen monitor that I use for my main screen, and a smaller 4:3 screen that I use for my schval which Ill place in the cutout. Here I am basically tring to figure out all the dimensions and where to place everything. There, managed to upload some pictures of what I started with. Sorry for the delay, had trouble posting the pictures and then I had to go to a work christmas party. Edited December 6, 2010 by Sharkster64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Call Sign: Warhammer
Triggerhappy69 Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 What a tease ... He He.. I agree..! :music_whistling: Use Imageshack or even your MSN page, and link the pictures from there mate.. "But (504)Brewber said they were'nt friendly.. So I took'em out.!" [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Sharkster64 Posted December 6, 2010 Author Posted December 6, 2010 Here are some pics after it is all assembled. Now I am just waiting for the paint to dry so that I can put a second coat on. I plan on mounting my g940 on the left side vertically like a collective. I can also mount it on the little shelf on the left side when flying jets. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Call Sign: Warhammer
Cali Posted December 6, 2010 Posted December 6, 2010 Sw%et build so far, keep us updated. i7-4820k @ 3.7, Windows 7 64-bit, 16GB 1866mhz EVGA GTX 970 2GB, 256GB SSD, 500GB WD, TM Warthog, TM Cougar MFD's, Saitek Combat Pedals, TrackIR 5, G15 keyboard, 55" 4K LED
Sharkster64 Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 Getting close to completion. Its nothing fancy like Triggerhappys pit or Bad CRCs pit, or any one of those other talented guys, but it is a functional multi purpose pit that will have room for much improvement. I plan on putting the TM MFDs on either side of the lower monitor one of these days. Just a few more things to do to it before I put it in the basement and hook everything up. talon90 Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Really well done. You are giving me some great ideas.
Sharkster64 Posted December 7, 2010 Author Posted December 7, 2010 Thank you guys for the kind words. This was a lot of fun to design and build. I got my inspiration from Tagges pit. I can't wait to hook it all up and start simming in my new pit. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Call Sign: Warhammer
Feed Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Looks great - I bet there's a good feeling of immersion there.
pitbldr Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Very nice! I like the touch of Danger sign on the back of the "ejection seat"!
MTFDarkEagle Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 hehe love that ejection seat sticker ;) Lukas - "TIN TIN" - 9th Shrek Air Strike Squadron TIN TIN's Cockpit thread
tagge Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Sharkster64; I got my inspiration from Tagges pit. Thank's! I usually am a inspiration to nothing else besides constant series of complaints from my wife... :) Looking very good indeed, nice work. I called my pit multipurpose because I wanted the opportunity to play other games also. Racing sims (so I hade to have somwhere to put my Logitech Momo steering wheel) and Combat Mission-series are what I mostly play. - With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. - "Upside-down shuttlecock of death" SU-27 as described by Sgt Baker
Sharkster64 Posted December 8, 2010 Author Posted December 8, 2010 (edited) I have the same purpose for this pit. I also have a steering wheel for racing games as well. I don't play them very often, as I mostly play Black Shark and Lockon. That is why I don't really want to make a full pit. When I saw your pit, I thought that it was perfect for my needs. I am done the pit for now, and I will be setting it up later on tonight after I get back from hunting. Thanks again. Edited December 8, 2010 by Sharkster64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Call Sign: Warhammer

Just need to get my replacement throttle back from Logitech, and I will be all good to go. Here are the latest pics. Feed Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Yeah, that's cool ... and the sticker really does add "something". :)
mig29 Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 @Sharkster64: When you have done so much then why not put the entire system on a gyroscopic platform (with a feedback system )! Then you can make NASA jealous. :D
Feed Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I'll be interested to see what you come up with for a throttle mount (as a collective).
Sharkster64 Posted December 9, 2010 Author Posted December 9, 2010 As soon as my replacement throttle arrives, I will show you what I am going to do with that. :smilewink: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Call Sign: Warhammer

Spetz Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Nice ! Like the can of Kokanee in the first pick..Tell tale sign of a BC man..
Sharkster64 Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 I'll be interested to see what you come up with for a throttle mount (as a collective). Well I recieved my throttle finally today. I am now back to flying the Shark and I am loving it. As you can see by the pics, I simply mounted the throttle on the side of the pit vertically. I have done this since I started flying flight sims and I totally recommend it if you like to fly helicopter sims realistically. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us Uploaded with ImageShack.us 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Call Sign: Warhammer
tagge Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Looking good, man. Three things (two off-topic): 1. You gotta get a bigger screen. Your cool cockpit screams for a bigass screen... 2. My wife saw this thread, cause she allways wonder what I do late in the evenings. Her first commentary was: "Is that your brother?". Man, I tell ya. Whitout the glasses you are a spitting image of my brother... 3. A Canucks cap there? While not my favorite canuck NHL-team, I must say that Sami Salo is one the best defens players ever to play in NHL from Finland. But so very accident prone, allmost a curse on him I think... - With sufficient thrust, pigs fly just fine. - "Upside-down shuttlecock of death" SU-27 as described by Sgt Baker

In reply, 1. That will definitely come eventually. Also hope to get the Thrustmaster MFDs for Christmas which will fit in nicely. 2. Wellll, I hope what you do late in the evenings has nothing to do with my picture, even if I do look like your brother. :megalol: Just kidding, I couldn't resist. 3.
